I just got done reading your book. I am working to become a coach myself, and am grateful for having your book as a reference. Your section, "Implications for Defenses" in chapter 3 is the same as my view. The final chapter motivated me exponentially! Thank you for writing your book; it is a valuable tool for the game of football and life.

Dr. Rodriguez provides a new perspective to the game that has sorely been needed for those of us that wonder why the "better" team (naturally our team) lost. He brings a dimension I've never thought about and is able to quantify the various aspects to a game that seems so simple. As a college football fan, I enjoy the ability to see the game from a very different aspect, yet still enjoy the pureness of the game. While I do not aspire to be a football coach, I am pleasantly surprised at how much more I enjoy the college football season and seeing how Dr. Rodriguez's statistical analysis formulas stack up against the pre-game show paid analysts. Thanks Dr Rodriguez for providing me with some new tools in which to analyze and understand a simply complex game.

It's about time that someone brought statistical analysis to football. Baseball managers at all levels have books 3-feet thick which tell them which left-handed batter bats best against hard-throwing right-handed relievers in the 8th inning when down by two runs or more, but football coaches still decide to go for it on 4th down "when it feels right". I think Dr. Rodriguez has made a real breakthrough here. ALthough limited to Texas high-school football, there is tons of data out there and I hope this is the beginning of a trend in football. Kudos.

Excellent book! While the book is based on Texas HS football, the insight into football provided by Dr Rodriguez's can easily be applied to high school football in any state or for collage football. I have actually recommended this book to the local high school coach. The final chapter should be mandatory reading for all high school athletes. I believe it would open the eyes and minds of the young athletes about the importance of not only doing well in sports but also the importance of academics. It was a quick read.
