With thirty eight years of health care experience, Carson F. Dye, FACHE is a search consultant with Witt/Kieffer, the largest health care executive search firm in the US. He conducts CEO, physician executive, and senior executive searches for a variety of healthcare organizations. He also assists boards in succession planning, CEO transition planning, leadership assessment, board retreats, and provides leadership counsel for a variety of client organizations. Prior to joining Witt/Kieffer, Mr. Dye worked with the search firms Lamalie and TMP Worldwide. His consulting career began as a Principal and Director of Findley Davies, Inc.'s Health Care Industry Consulting Division. Prior to his consulting career, he served twenty years in senior executive positions at St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio State University Medical Center, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and Clermont Mercy Hospital, Cincinnati.
Mr. Dye is a faculty member of the Governance Institute and has been named as a physician leadership consultant expert on the LaRoche National Consultant Panel. He serves as a Special Advisor to The Healthcare Roundtable. He currently teaches leadership in the University of Alabama Birmingham executive graduate program in health administration and in the past has served on the faculty of Ohio State University, the University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University. Since 1987, Mr. Dye has taught several programs for the American College of Healthcare Executives and has made various presentations to over 30 state and local hospital associations. He is the author of seven books including the 2001 James A. Hamilton Book of the Year Award winner, Leadership in Healthcare: Values at the Top. He has also authored The Healthcare C-Suite: Leadership Development at the Top, Exceptional Leadership: 16 Critical Competencies for Healthcare Executives, Winning the Talent War: Ensuring Effective Leadership in Healthcare, Executive Excellence, and Protocols for Health Care Executive Behavior and several journal articles on leadership and human resources.
His seventh book, Leadership in Healthcare: Essential Values and Skills, end Edition, was released March 1, 2010. Leadership in Healthcare: Essential Values and Skills, 2nd Edition was revised primarily because of the need and demand for a leadership textbook that contained a health care perspective. Mr. Dye earned his BA from Marietta College and his MBA from Xavier University.
