Format: Hardcover
Mary Pat Faley is an energetic, positive can-do voice in the tennis world. Now she is ready to bring the tennis and life lessons she has shared with hundreds of her students to millions of readers. Her practical advice, including detailed instructions for improving your tennis serve for tennis players and motivational exercises perfect for anyone, will make even the couch potato feel inspired to gain a positive attitude and achieve his goals.

Winning in Tennis and Life is far more than a tennis instruction manual. The book is divided into three sections: The Game of Health, The Game of Tennis, and the Game of Life. Each section is filled with Mary Pat's personal life stories, success stories of her students, inspirational quotations, exercises to help readers achieve their goals, and Mary Pat Faley's never-failing positive attitude.

Mary Pat begins by telling her story of surviving four life-threatening pulmonary embolisms that made her slow down her tennis teaching. During this time, she slowed down her teaching to recover, and she reinvented herself by becoming an author and writing the book she had always dreamed about: Winning in Tennis and Life. In addition to using her own stories of struggle as inspiration, Mary Pat also provides numerous stories from her tennis students of overcoming obstacles, including battles with cancer and blindness.

Intermixed with the personal stories is practical advice about nutrition, exercise, and how to keep yourself in good health so you can continue to win in tennis and life.

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, this book is an invaluable resource for your game, as well as your life! Mary Pat Faley has an incredible way of translating her on court coaching into a 350 page book that covers every aspect of the game. From the basics of position, stroke and on court movement, to in-depth coverage of strategy with visual descriptions- Mary Pat covers it all. What sets this book apart from any other, is the attention paid to health, mind, goal planning, and many other aspects of living a full life. This priceless book points out, the direct correlation between sport and living, which make for an instant blueprint for success. Also included are many encouraging stories from the people that Mary Pat has coached over the years, along with her own personal story of overcoming addiction, which is sure to touch many and change lives.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of being coached by Mary Pat knows all too well what incredible knowledge she has to share. Now, there is a book that we can all own, to have her coaching at our fingertips! I highly recommend this book to all players and want to be players of tennis and LIFE!

Mary Pat Faley's book is a fantastic tool for improving your tennis game. I have been her student for 15 years. Her instruction is simple and effective. After reading her book I am amazed she got all of her simple and easy to understand tips into the book. If she can't be your pro buy and use her book it will be almost as good as having her on the court with you. All of the chapters show all the techniques she has taught for the 20 plus years she has been teaching. You will improve your game immediately if you follow her techniques. Thanks for a great book MP

I have had the pleasure of knowing Mary Pat having taken and am still taking tennis lessons from her for over ten years and still not only enjoyed reading her book but got much out of it personally for doing so! She is a positive role model who uses tennis as a metaphor for improving your life. There are so many "self help" types of books on the market, but this one is worth the read.
