Conclusion of the Wonderful Chadwick Family Trilogy, October 17, 2009
This review is from: Winning Through (The Chadwick Family Chronicles) (Paperback)
Having loved all the Marcia Willett books, I find it hard to pick a favorite. However, the Chadwick Family trilogy will certainly be at the top of my list and stay with me a long, long time. I doubt I will ever forget Fliss, Mole, Susanna, and all the other wonderful characters that live in that safe haven in Devon known as The Keep.
Like Looking Forward and Holding On, the previous entries in this series, Winning Through has all the anguish and heartache, the family drama and charm that makes the entire trilogy a masterpiece.
The three orphans from Kenya are now grown and facing middle age. Fliss has a family of her own, a marriage that needs a lot of repair, and a tragedy she never foresaw but which changes her whole life. Susanna retains her sunny disposition and shares not only a wonderful family life and three children with her husband Gus, but also is a vital part of his business. Mole still struggles with the images from Kenya but has found his niche as a naval officer and works in a highly sensitive area. He is not prepared for the problem he encounters when he finally meets the love of his life, but just as he finds the necessary courage to commit to his love, an unexpected event will once again change what might have been.
Old characters die and new ones are born as the saga continues with a warmth and coziness that will delight readers. Marcia Willett has a special talent for making readers feel part of the Chadwick family and delight in their triumphs, cry at their misfortunes, and be totally immersed in life at The Keep.

The Chadwick Family Chronicles are a treasure!, March 4, 2011
This review is from: Winning Through (The Chadwick Family Chronicles) (Paperback)
I had Marcia Willet's Chadwick Family Chronicles on my list of books to order for a long time, and finally treated myself to the entire four books. Oh what a delight! I never would have waited so long had I known how good they were --my only disappointment was when they had ended.
I read all the time, but only rarely run across books that make me think about the characters long after I've finished the books. I grew to know and love the Chadwick family! This is Marcia Willet at her best. She is often advertised as writing in the tradition of Rosamunde Pilcher (another of my favorite writers), but she is a gifted writer who deserves her own recognition.
Here is the order of the series and the publishing dates:
1. Looking Forward (1998)
2. Holding on (1999)
3. Winning Through (2000)
4. The Prodigal Wife (2009)
