5.0 out of 5 stars Particularly relevant for Real Estate Professionals., February 24, 2002

This review is from: Winning Through Intimidation (Hardcover)
I am a real estate agent and after first reading this book my first reaction was to keep it a secret. I felt it was so powerful I did not want it in the hands of my competition or co-workers. I read the whole book 16 hours after buying it. When done, I knew his philosophy would earn me money. Ringer explains the personality types that try to screw others and how to handle these people. His view of business describes the playing field as a jungle where few have ethics in the 11th hour when it is time to cash in the chips. He is right and anyone who has not read this book is at a distinct disadvantage!

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic, February 18, 2010
By
This review is from: Winning Through Intimidation (Hardcover)
Finished Mr. Ringer's classic this morning. After "hearing" of the book for years, about six months ago I purchased a used hardback and put it in the queue. As many others have pointed out, this book isn't so much about intimidation as it is about "NOT" being intimidated by others. He provides real-world counsel when he advises that closing the deal is not the goal; getting paid is the goal---and apparently in his industry (real estate) this can be a role of the dice. I enjoyed the book in the beginning, but after a while his details of real estate successes and failures became tedious. He wraps up nicely with some penetrating questions for the reader. I would recommend this to anyone trying to build their confidence. I'll keep on the shelves as a reference and will recommend to colleagues and friends.

Having read the original back in the 70's was telling my son in law about it
he's in the real estate business and wanted it. So I gave it to him as a stocking stuffer.
He loved it and after a re read I think it should be a must read for High School students
as they get NO Economic teaching about how business works from UNION teachers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book BUT SOLD BY OPPORTUNISTS!!!, January 15, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Winning Through Intimidation (Hardcover)
First, let me tell you that I loved this book! I read it over twenty-plus years ago, and still use Mr. Ringer's insight to life situations. About ten years ago I bought this book for both of my sons and several friends, who also appreciated it. I recently found it again on Amazon for my wife's cousin. Luckily, I bought it for a great price, less than ten bucks, which included shipping! But now some OPPORTUNISTS ARE ASKING TOO MUCH FOR THIS BOOK! If Robert J. Ringer would have sold his book for what they're asking, he would have been a millionaire a lot sooner! $90.00? Not me, Buddy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Let Them Ring You Bell!, November 9, 2011
This review is from: Winning Through Intimidation (Hardcover)
A classic in an important aspect of interpersonal relations. Yes, it may help you become more assertive; but, it also helps you see the intimidators coming and prepare for them accordingly.

I know that it is supposed to translate into all areas of you life. But the book applies more to business than interpersonal interactions. It is useful if you work in real estate.

If one could only read one book in their lifetime, this would be the book.

You can not read this book and still be the same person as before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Real, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Winning Through Intimidation (Hardcover)
You may think that it is about intimidating others with fear, force and manipulation but in the contrary it is about how not to be intimidated out of your own success by your own false beliefs, insecurities, fears, personal shortcomings based on previous life experiences that have molded your personality to fail and live a mediocre life! It is about real power that comes from putting the magnifying glass on you, your unconscious, so you are no longer intimidated and can move forward in life with your dream!
