I have found success in nursing school depends on my being able to educate myself, and this book has aided my learning in many ways. The case studies have helped me learn how information relates to patient care, and how to put the whole picture together. In essence, they give me a chance to get the information out of the book and my notes and into my head. Even better, the questions pull information in ways that I hadn't considered and so allow me to learn more than I would have studying without it.

I was frustrated at first that there were no "answers" to the case studies, but realized quickly that this works to my advantage. Having to look up the information and think through the questions instead of simply skipping to the back of the book improves my retention. It is also helpful to work through the case studies with a study partner - which can give me a whole different perspective on the problems.

My only complaint would be that the case studies are not organized beyond body system. This means I need to read the initial story for every case study in a section to decide which ones apply to the problems we are studying in class. I do understand listing them by problem would take some of the learning out of the case studies - but it would save time in finding which ones to go over when.

I definitely recommend this resource to other nursing students, have gotten several of my classmates to purchase it and even suggested it be used as part of our curriculum.

I got this book to help me practice visualizing the whole picture in a case. I think as nursing students we get bogged down in trying to remember all the information that we need to remember that we forget an important part of doing well is putting it all together once we have all the information. This book is a good way to practice the whole picture thinking.

The case studies are very well done, but they are pretty useless if you don't know if you are answering the questions correctly. Even when you look up the info on your own, you can't always tell if you have the correct answers. Put the answers in (or post them online) and I'd give it four or five stars. As it is, it's basically useless.

I use this for teaching post-conferences for a nursing clinical. So far it's been great to tie common threads of differing types of disorders (cardio, renal, etc) together.

This book is good for general critical thinking concepts. I was hoping for more detailed, specific examples for my personal use. My rating of this book is based on how it fit my personal use. As a genersl text, I would give it a higher ranking.

Great book, i ended up not using it much because i used other books i only did 3 of the scenarios), however dont let that fool you, it is a good buy, and a good workbook, The different case scenario questions help you test your knowledge on certain disease processes and nursing care.

Excellent book. It is very detailed in different types of case studies and covers all body systems. As another reviewer wrote, the answers are not included and the book does not reference where to find the answers. But, this is the point. You need to look for the answers on your own. If you are unsure, ask your instructor for guidance. That's why they are there. I love it, it has helped tremendously to help me focus where I need to instead of thinking all over the place. I also like that I have to look for some of the answers and then can review them to gain a better understanding of the subject matter. It has made a huge difference on test scores.

My wife bought this on a teacher recommendation and it has helped her a great deal in block four of the nursing program.
