I started using the foldable bookcases as soon as they hit the market. As an ex military person, and someone who prefers renting, there have been quite a few houshold tranplants in my life. Anything that eases portability is welcome.

The original version of these didn't have tops on them. That was a nuisance, as it prevents one from capitalizing on overhead space for display purposes.

So these are welcome. That is they're welcome; but why the heck were they manufactured so as to be less wide than the older models? This is a bit of industrial/commercial treachery that gets consumers totally insensed.

I didn't say it, but these are stackable. You can make a six shelf stacked unit WITH a top on it.

Unit comes disassembled. Putting the first one together can be a bit trying. A power wrench comes in REAL handy on these. Watch the top lid. It mounts opposite side from the other shelves. Remembering that will save you some effort :).

I've never had any spill or toppling incidents with these. They are solid hardwood units. But as presented they aren't child proofed or earthquake proofed.

Gave this 4 stars just because I'm irritated with Winsome for the lack of standardization with their other products. Other than that I love them, and would just as soon get rid of ll my old wall unit shelves for these.

This is great item. I have about 6 of these foldable bookcases in my home office, and they look very nice!
It wasnt that hard to assemble them, thank goodness.
