4.0 out of 5 stars nice strong table but finish a little delicate
This is a nice table but the finish is not the best. It gets damaged easily. Also it seems a little unstable it could probably use a fourth extension in leg to stabilize. I like that it is solid wood not that cardboard stuff you usually get.

The cart is made of beautiful sturdy wood. It looks beautiful but I have had nothing but problems with the adjustment features.

The Tilting Brace that allows you to adjust the tilt of the top tray has a plastic knob that snapped the first time I tried to tighten it. The vertical support has a cute little wooden knob that when I tried to raise the tray the knob screwed rigt off! I will now have to figure out a way to remove the screw that is stuck in the vertical support and try to glue the knob back on.

Another concern was the fact that when assembled it was not level...and it was not close to level. It felt like I had to sit at an angle in order to use my laptop.

I have only owned this cart for 6 days and if I didn't discard the carton I would return it for a refund.

This cart is beautiful and would probably suffice if you didn't want to adjust the tilt or height very often.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy goods, October 1, 2007

As others have said, the wood is nice but that's where it stops.

The finish is splotchy, the platforms weren't level, the movable platform interfered with the fixed platform, the height adjustment assembly was assembled incorrectly, and when I woke up the next day, the angle adjustment bracket had snapped and the adjustable shelf had dropped down and couldn't be fixed.

Service is less than wonderful, too, as I have had no response to three different communications to them.

I did like the wood, though, and spent another $25 to get a brass lid support (from another supplier) to replace the angle adjustment bracket and am using the desk as I write this. It's smaller and better looking (now) than the honking-metal-and-pressboard table I previously owned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice appearance, inferior hardware, September 4, 2007

Attractive and functional, I like the wood construction far more than metal and plastic. However, the hardware for adjusting the table angle is so inferior that it is certain to break within a day or two. It is fairly easy to replace with hardware from Home Depot or similar store (a little re-engineering is required), but it's annoying that you have to do so. I'd rather pay a few dollars more to get a product that I don't have to rebuild.

2.0 out of 5 stars Shoddy! A total letdown..., October 18, 2007
This review is from: Winsome Wood Adjustable Laptop Cart/Table, Antique Walnut (Kitchen)
This item was meant to be a birthday present for my wife, who takes online courses to reach her MBA. She works on a 17" laptop that is quite cumbersome... Needless to say, even I got tired watching her shuffle the laptop around on her lap while on the couch.

I decided to make her life easier and more productive while sparing her back and legs from serious damage. I looked at quite a few laptop carts and this one kind of stood out because of its wood finish.

I received the item intact, no blemishes. I proceeded to build the unit and found that certain parts needed reinforcement even though the manual did not state anything of the sort (there are two parts that use a small 1"+ dowel as a centering/blocking pin). These should have been dropped in with wood glue, so I did that.

I built the remainder of the unit and even went so far as to place expansion anchors in some of the holes to produce a more stable device. All seemed to go well, even the cart was quite level and steady.

My wife loved it at first and I was a hero for a week - then she decided to go in the bedroom and work because I am a noisy boy when recording music in the home studio - heh heh... She asked how to get the laptop stand to come up high enough to accomodate her, since we have a pillowtop mattress and the bed is quite high.

I loosened the height adjustment knob and pulled the desk portion upward, then attempted to tighten the knob...

IT CAME RIGHT OFF IN MY HAND, AND THE SCREW THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HOLD IT RECESSED INTO THE CHANNEL!!! I tried my best to alleviate that, but became frustrated when I realized this knob was made of some substandard substrate material that simply eroded away the more you tried to torque a screw into the hole.

I had to resort to panduit straps and a chock of wood to hold the thing in place, which now looks absolutely lame and haphazard. Visiting Winsome Wood's website was an exercise in futility and a good lesson on how NOT to design a customer-oriented website.

I am not even going to attempt to get a replacement part - the unit became almost useless from that simple breakage and it does not seem worth my time and energy to fix such a promising but truly mediocre piece.

I ordered another from a different vendor who has received five stars and I am hoping I will not have to suffer this letdown again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I had hoped for, December 18, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Winsome Wood Adjustable Laptop Cart/Table, Antique Walnut (Kitchen)
Yes, I read the other reviews before purchasing this item but hoped I might be lucky and have a different experience. I actually ordered 2 of these tables. The first one arrived and went together pretty easily. When finsihed, it was slightly less than level but overall made a nice looking laptop table. After using the table for a few days, I thought to myself this isn't a bad little table and ordered a second one to hold a keyboard and mouse for my desktop station. The second one went to together just as easily as the first but resulted in a MUCH more crooked table. In the meantime, the hardware broke on the first table and almost dumped my laptop on the floor. <sigh> I repaired the first table with hardware that I had laying around and am still using both tables until I find something reasonable to replace them. I did like that they were made of wood but unfortuneately some of the wood used to make these table kits is obviously warped. I wanted to love these tables but sadly I had much the same experience as the other reviewers. Oh well, one day they will make some dandy firewood. Look elsewhere for you laptop table.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with this item, March 3, 2008

I must say that I should have read the reviews before purchasing the table. I bought it for my wife who had surgery and was going to be bed ridden for a couple of weeks. It was put together easily, and I was happy about it even though it seemed to be a bit unstable when extended to bed height, but I could live with that. What I could not live with was when the plastic part holding the slide adjustment broke. I tried to contact The Winsome CO. to inquire if I could purchase a replacement part. They have not contacted me back. I percieve their attitude to be of We have your money too bad for you now. Buyer Beware!!! Not worth even the $69.99 discounted price.

Listen to all the other bad reviews on this product. They are absolutely correct. The adjustment knob will come off in your hand and the table is not stable. Bottom line: You get what you pay for. Spend a little more money and buy a better product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Winsome Wood terrible construction, January 13, 2008
This review is from: Winsome Wood Adjustable Laptop Cart/Table, Antique Walnut (Kitchen)
This product was not made well... to say the least. First, it was supposed to be adjustable but the screw wasn't the right size. I had to actually cut down the wood with a saw to make it adjustable. Part of the table was supposed to tilt. However, it wouldn't hold a tilt because the plastic housing containing the screw was stripped. I had to bolt it on which just took away the tilt ability. I honestly think it was the worst product I have ever purchased.

A very disappointing product. It should have been called a topple over cart. The height adjustment didn't work at all. It was pretty though. But I was very happy with the Amazon return policy.
