5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
The best made piece of put together furniture I have ever purchased. Took longer to arraign the CD's and DVD's then it took to assemble. No missing or damaged parts. Shipping took less then 48 hours from PA to SC. This is a small unit which was what I needed, make sure the size fits your needs. The pictures on the net are deceiving. Other sites on the web have this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Spacing for DVD's is too tight
I bought this cabinet and I'm somewhat dissatisfied.
The assembly is not complicated, it uses bolts with cam locks.

PRO's: Finish, color, enclosed to keep dust out.

CON's: poor door hinge design; it's too small and spacing for DVD's is very restrictive.
The doors do not close evenly and make contact with the shelving.
DVD space is lost...

PRO's: Finish, color, enclosed to keep dust out.

CON's: poor door hinge design; it's too small and spacing for DVD's is very restrictive.

The doors do not close evenly and make contact with the shelving.

DVD space is lost because of the top door magnets.

Summary: nice looks but lack of spacing between DVD/shelves and doors causes problems with proper clsosing. Everything is very tightly packed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wish I would have read the other reviews before buying this item, June 26, 2008
This review is from: Winsome Wood CD/DVD Cabinet with Glass Doors, Antique Walnut (Kitchen)
I thought this cabinet was a great deal, what with the free shipping and all. Well, when I opened the box to put it together, the top was dented. Looks as though it was thrown at some point. I guess its a good thing its the part that faces the wall.

You lose a whole shelf if you use the support beam. I wish I would have read that review throughly. Also you lose space on top because of the magnets that hold the doors together. Its pretty wobbly. I'm not sure if I'll even keep this cabinet. I have 2 small childen and the last thing I need is for it to fall on one of them. Yes, they include a drywall screw to screw the unit into the wall..but comeon.. make a sturdier piece of furniture!

If you don't have alot of cds/dvds to store and don't mind a shotty piece of furniture, then by all means ..ignore this review.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not great, November 10, 2008

I purchased this to sit next to my 52 inch LCD entertainment system. It looks very sharp. No complaints there. The design is very poor. The door won't shut all of the way because the hinge is not set in the correct place. When the doors are shut, there is a gap between them. The shelving arrangement is complicated because in the center of the back wall there is a support beam that doesn't allow the doors to shut if DVD's sit on that shelf. I have worked around it by repositioning the shelves but it is a pain.

Other sites on the web have this same unit for over $150, I would have been dissappointed if I paid more then I did. The only negative problem is if you use middle back support brace you can't store any cd's or dvd's on that shelf, the doors won't close. Also if you are living in the dark ages like me, this is not a unit for VHS tapes, you will run out of room quickly. Other than that this is a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice cabinet, December 7, 2007

This is a very nice looking cabinet. It's a little pricy but it looks very nice. One reviewer stated the top magents interfered with DVD storage, I have not had this problem. I think it holds roughly 25 DVDs per shelf.

Assembly is very easy. The instructions state the crossbar in the middle is optional but that it adds stability if installed. If you do install it then you will lose considerable dvd storage space on the middle shelf. You will only be able to store DVDs or CDs sideways. If you don't intend on moving the cabinet very much once assembled then you probably won't need the crossbar. If you rearrange often then you should use it as it would be pretty wobbly without it. It does give you a screw to secure it to a wall so if you intend on doing that then I would definitely not use the crossbar, it would just take up unnecessary room.

And don't think you can just remove the bar after install if it doesn't work for you. You have to disassemble the whole thing to take it out.

Overall, I'm happy with it for its size. I could personally use a larger cabinet but couldn't find anything else reasonably priced that looked as nice as this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible and wasted my time, July 28, 2010

My husband and I bought this product for some books and little trinkets we have that we don't want ruined by the cat... It looks bigger in the picture!! It came in a timely matter but was missing hardware, and we couldn't even put it together. We called customer service and they said we had to ship it back and they would send a new one. They sent a new one fast and luckily for us we had yet to send the other one back. Because upon receiving the other one It had two of the same doors and missing door handles..We just took what we needed from the two and now have a wobbly cabinet.. It was totally not worth the money we spent and i would not recommend it to anyone!

I would put no stars but they wont let u..

4.0 out of 5 stars Great cabinet for small spaces (like my bathroom!), June 10, 2008

I know this is a media cabinet, but that wasn't what I wanted it for.

I have a small bathroom in desperate need of additional storage, and the only thing that would fit with doors that closed was a media cabinet. This one was perfect, matching the bathroom vanity and provided a quick, cheap, but relatively nice upgrade without a major bathroom overhaul.

What I did do, though, to improve the cabinet might be of use to people who bought this for its intended purpose. I didn't want to see all the junk behind the doors, so I bought translucent paper (sort of like contact paper, but it goes on with water and a squeegee) to cover the glass. The doors now how a very classy frosted look that really does look like frosted glass.

I didn't like that the knobs were so low, which I guess is great for midgets, but if you're of average or above height, you may not want to keep stooping over to open the cabinet.

I had an old wooden dowel I put in the holes with wood glue; I used some dark shoe polish to color the ends which were flush with the cabinet. That solved the predrilled hole. I then used my drill to make holes at the top of the doors. Because this is going in a bathroom, I wanted slightly glitzier knobs, so I bought ones of the same size, but these were acrylic glass with stainless accents. Worked like a charm!

About the construction: I put this together in about an hour, but it still seemed a little too rickety for my taste. I went out to Home Depot and bought four L-brackets and tacked them on the back corners. That made the thing incredibly stable with little effort and expense.

This was one of the better cabinets I've seen, but still had my personal bugaboo, which is those idiotic cam things that are a PITA to use (if you ever had to put together furniture that came in a box, you'll know what I'm talking about.) You have to make a lot of mistakes before you figure out NOT to screw these things too hard; they are made of soft brass, and it takes no effort at all to strip them.

All in all I'd recommend this as a nice-looking and relatively substantial media cabinet; for my purposes, it performed GREAT as a bathroom cabinet to store and hide all the junk women accumulate!

I'd recommend it (with L-brackets!)

3.0 out of 5 stars dvd cabinet, December 15, 2010

I was looking online for a dvd cabinet and I stumbled upon this.. I bought it because I was like wow this is an amazing cabinet and look's nice.. BUT I received it and put it together and it is very small.. like a miniature cabinet.... so be aware to look at measurement's before buying.. It is a sturdy cabinet and we still have it after a year so it has held up very well, just the size is the down fall for this item..

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice cabinet but......., November 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Winsome Wood CD/DVD Cabinet with Glass Doors, Antique Walnut (Kitchen)
I bought this cabinet from Amazon. I had to return the first one. After spending a long time trying to put this together, I got frustrated because none of the factory drilled holes or starter holes matched at all. Nothing fit like it was supposed to.. I did not want to drill all over this cabinet to fix what should have been done at the factory.( I am good at assembling things from a box and know the problem wasnt mine.)

I finally gave up and boxed the cabinet back up and contacted Amazon for a RMA. They are very pro-active about returns and customer satisfaction. Within 2 days I received a replacement. This replacement had the same problems which would lead me to believe the manufacturer has people doing the predrilling/drilling that should be sweeping the floor.

I got out my drill and re-drilled where these holes and repositioned the door hinges to where they should have been and it looks and works fine. To sum it up, be prepared to spend some time fixing what should have been done at the factory..

Its a nice cabinet after fixing the mfg's snafus. Be prepared.

I'm pretty disappointed in this product. It looks great on picture, however, it's pretty small and the quality is poor. It's pretty easy to put together but that's what makes it's quality cheap. It's not very strong. This is ideal for very light use. $30-$50 more will get you a much better DVD media cabinet and it's worth the extra money to pay for another one. I should have returned this one but I waited too long to put it together.
