Pros:

* Beautiful dark wood and elegant construction. You can leave it out all the time.
* Easy to assemble.
* Wide steps.
* I didn't realize when I got it, but the ability to fold up the bottom step means this thing is great to just leave out with a small footprint.

Cons:
* None. I love this thing.

I bought this because I have cats and large dogs and I feed the cats on a table above the reach of the dogs. However, one of my cats is 17 years old and her days of leaping up three feet are long gone. I had a basket that cut the distance down to half that, but she still sometimes fell. I searched all over for "cat stairs", but apparently no one has filled that little niche market yet. I had also tried an old wooden stepstool, but it had very narrow steps and after I watched her slip off that too I knew I had to do something. It really broke my heart to watch her, so I'm very thankful to have found this perfect stepstool. Each level is only a foot high now and the steps are wide enough that she feels safe and solid on each one. It's also not a bad thing that's it's so pretty it's a permanent fixture and readily available for me to move over a few feet and use to get in a high kitchen cabinet.

I' m very happy with the stool now that it is put together. It looks great in my kitchen, but it took my husband over an hour to put it together and he is very handy.

I bought this product and received it last week (6/7/11). It takes at least an hour to assemble, but that isn't much of an issue. What is an issue is that screw holes don't line-up properly, so assembly is more difficult than it needs to be. Further, the finish on the wood is poor in several places. One entire leg of one large side piece was improperly sanded before the finish was applied. In order to be more "safe" this product should have rubber 'feet' on the bottoms of the leg pieces. This is not an issue unless you will be using the steps on a smooth surface. Basically, this is a typical, average, foreign-made product. Functional, but not what you expect to get.

Nice little stool. You need to assemble it yourself which took me about 20 minutes. The only fault is that the base is the same width as the top so it can be a little unstable if you're not careful. Make sure you step on the middle of each step instead of the sides.

This stool is sturdy and the finish is fine. We use it to reach high bookshelves in our den and it looks very nice ... we leave it out all the time.

Some of the parts came out of the box with dings and marks. It's an alright stool to keep in the pantry out of sight. I just wouldn't purchase it to display anything as the finish and quality of the wood are poor. This stool was not as difficult to assemble as others stated, but it took some care to make the top two boards square and even. I'm not impressed, but it will get the job done.

I read the reviews before buying this step stool, so I cannot say anything negative about the assembly. (I knew what I was getting into.) But, just to alert other potential buyers, the quality of wood/finishing on my stool was not worthy of the time to assemble it! Perhaps my particular stool was a fluke.

The item's function as a step stool is absolutely fine, but the finishing quality gives the appearance of an item one would NOT want to show in daylight. sorry, but true!

Not hard to assemble. Very sturdy and perfect height to reach stuff from the highest cabinet in the kitchen. So far my husband and I love it. And it also became our sitting stool where we sit on it while having meal on the kitchen island!

I got this step stool for my toddler for Christmas and am very disappointed with it. The back part that should rest against the cupboards is slanted and doesn't get close enough to the cupboards so there is a space big enough for him to get his toes in and push it away from the sink. Also it is very lightweight and slides away from the sink very easily, causing me to hold it in place while my son washes his hands. I am going to try to put some non-skid grip on the bottom of it and hope it helps, but I shouldn't have to do that in the first place. It looks nice, but there is no way I am letting my son use it by himself, which is a shame because I would like him to be able to wash his hands without me hovering over him.

Great step stool!!! Impressed with the ease of assembly and the solidness of the ladder. Use it everyday. Love it. Would highly recommend
