4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Cabinet and easy to assemble
I've read other reviews on this cabinet that suggest it is difficult to assemble so I made sure to check my watch as I got started. It took a total of 52 minutes to unpack, inventory all the pieces and assemble the cabinet. There was one spot where a back panel did not slide in easily and a quick scrape with the screwdriver provided enough clearance to fix that problem...

I've read other reviews on this cabinet that suggest it is difficult to assemble so I made sure to check my watch as I got started. It took a total of 52 minutes to unpack, inventory all the pieces and assemble the cabinet. There was one spot where a back panel did not slide in easily and a quick scrape with the screwdriver provided enough clearance to fix that problem. The last bolt requires that you reach into the back of one bottle slot to secure it but the hex design and allen wrench means it can easily be done without being able to see it. The allen wrench is provided with the kit and the only other tool you need is a screwdriver. My only complaint is that there is no stop on the drawer to prevent it from being pulled completely out. For the price that seems like a small problem and one I can easily over look.

The box contained all of the necessary hardware, etc. One of the side panels has a rough exterior facing, which detracted from the finish. Fortunately, the cabinet is placed in a postion where this is hidden from view. If I have to change its location, it will be a visible flaw. (This is probably why it was returned merchandise). Anyway, I decided to keep it. Once assembled, it was very sturdy and a full array of wine bottles does not create any sag or imbalance. Just be aware that this item is imported from Asia and quality control may be a little sub-standard.

5.0 out of 5 stars wine cabinet, February 16, 2008
This review is from: Winsome Wood Wine Cabinet, Walnut (Kitchen)
Very nice product. It was easy to assemble and yet looks quite sturdy and almost antique-like. It looks nice with other furniture. I especially like the drawer to put corkscrews, openers, etc. I would recommend this product highly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wine storage rack, February 15, 2010

I received this wine rack cabinet promptly from the shipper. I unpackaged the box and took inventory. There were a few blemishes on the side and most were in area that when put together you would not see. Pay very close attention to the instructions and line up all the grooves for the slide in backing. I had to take mine apart to orient the back correctly. You also have to leave the bottom off to fit the wine dividers in the cabinet. It would have taken 45 min to assemble had it not been for the error I made in assembly . Total time was about 1.5 Hours. All and all its an ok quality piece . If you remember The Bombay Company that you see in malls, its the same quality. Its ok for the money. If you put it in a dark corner it looks great with the wine bottles in it. Once you get close to it, it looks cheep. Typical pressboard veneer.

Also I did not get the color in the picture. I did get a walnut finish which is very dark. I wanted the lighter color that was in the picture. I still kept the piece because for the price its not worth the hassle for the return. If I had paid more ,I would have had a problem with it.

So I give it 3 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to assemble, holds a LOT of wine!, November 2, 2008

We ordered two of these cabinets to hold all of our wine and they look great together! They were fairly quick to put together, and are sturdy, even with 24 bottles of wine in each of them. The only thing I don't love about them is that the drawers aren't very deep, but it's not a huge problem. Overall, we're very happy with them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Damaged product., November 9, 2011

When I first saw this cabinet on Amazon,I thought it was the ideal solution to our small wine inventory.
When the cabinet arrived, three of the pieces were cracked, broken or scratched. I called Winsome and they requested proof of purchase. No problem. They also requested an itemized list of the damaged pieces which they ironically had room for on their instruction sheet. That should have been my first clue.
It took ten days to get the new pieces which arrived in good condition. But,I was not happy with a handwritten note that said "to avoid scratching the top piece ,apply on a soft surface". Now all of a sudden, this was my fault? Some things are better left unsaid. An apology for the inconvenience would have been a little bit more appropriate
I was more then disappointed with that comment! I will NEVER buy anything from this company again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price and assembly effort, March 10, 2010

This cabinet is perfectly fine for the price and the amount of effort needed to assemble. While it's not top quality, nor represented as such, it serves its purpose and looks good while doing so. I would recommend it to anyone needing a place to store wine that doesn't take up too much space and is affordable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Pretty, February 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Winsome Wood Wine Cabinet, Walnut (Kitchen)
I read all the reviews several times, before ordering. I only made one mistake in putting it together. I put the bottom of the drawer in upside down and didn't realize it until I tried to put in the wine racks. When I turned it around all went well. I didn't have to much trouble putting on the back as I turned it over, so I could get at the screws better. The only real problem I had was putting on the braces on the bottom. The screws didn't go in correctly and I think the holes weren't correct. I was really happy to see that the company put on a drawer stop, since that was a major complaint. It didn't take too long and I'm pleased with the chest. I think that they could do a little better with the directions, maybe a few sentences instead of just pictures. I've built furniture with my mom so I have a little better knowledge than a lot of people, which was a plus.

Love this product. There is a toxic smell from the wood at first but it quickly dissipates once you get the product unpacked. Very easy to put together-I did it all myself. I purchased 2 of the cabinets and they look GREAT! The only drawback is now I need to purchase more wine!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for the price, December 19, 2011
This review is from: Winsome Wood Wine Cabinet, Walnut (Kitchen)
I was looking for a wooden wine cabinet that could be used in a small space. This one fit the bill. The frame is solid wood, not pressboard, like so many others. The styling is simple, so it can fit nicely with many styles of furniture. Assembly was fairly simple with good directions. As another reviewer mentioned, the back piece was a little tricky to stay in place while tightening the screws, but sliding it in with the edge of a butter knife (creative???) did the trick. Once the back was in place, I recruited another pair of hands to work with me to keep the back in the groove while I tightened the screws. Beyond that, assembly was fine.
Looks far more expensive than the actual cost. A winner!!!
