My husband and I purchased this tv stand because it was on sale and the dimensions looked like they'd fit the tv and components (unlike other stands we checked out). We opted for super saver shipping and surprisingly the box showed up two days later! Super easy to put together (I could use my drill instead of a stupid allen wrench). Stand looks great but is a little flimsy - the side panels are not even 1/4 inch thick. Works for us, though, since our TV isn't heavy and it's not going to be moved around much. Only suggestion I have for others is to measure the DEPTH of your components (dvd, cable box) including the cables that stick out in the back. We measured our cable box but didn't account for the cables, and the box hangs off the front by about an inch. Not a huge deal, but after all that time with the measuring tape it was annoying.

This unit is priced affordably compared to other TV stands, however, please be aware that the quality of the unit is poor and thus reflects the price. Material is light and flimsy.

We received our unit with a broken leg. You could see where they had driven a brad nail to secure the joining frame, which in-turn caused the wood to split. Additionally, when we were assembling the unit, we found that one of the braces was a fourth of an inch smaller than the other. I had to loosen the screws on both sides causing noticeable gaps in the fit and finish. Lastly, they shorted me one of the assembly screws.

As I'm sure it is no surprise, I wasn't too happy with this purchase. Trying to repack and return this type of product is a pain, especially when you're looking forward to using something that you've been patiently waiting to receive only to then have to return and wait again.

In the end, I decided to fix the unit as opposed to sending it back. It looks nice once assembled but most definitely has a cheap feel to it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Impressed, October 30, 2009

This review is from: Winsome Wood Zuri 36-Inch TV Stand (Kitchen)
I recently had my TV sitting on the floor as my prior TV stand was too small. I found this TV Stand because it was affordable, matched my current furniture, and had free shipping.

Shipping was nice, it was very well packaged, and I usually get stuff beat up and broken because it has to come all the way up to Alaska but this arrived intact, only issue was one corner was the slightest bit depressed but it didn't bother me, and even when I look hard it's hard to notice.

The color is perfect, a dark espresso, almost black in dim light - richly colored and very nice. The knobs are a matte silver and go nicely with the espresso color.

Putting it together was easy, I have but together many pieces of furniture and this one fell towards the easy medium side. One thing to note: to keep the screws from showing they included espresso colored wood plugs which is great, but be sure to have a rubber mallet to knock them into place because the stand will not look quite right without this tool. The things that have to line up just right (i.e. the magnets for the opening door) are already put together. I had no problems with anything else lining up.

My TV is large and very heavy and this TV stand supports 200 pounds with no problems noted.

The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because when I put my TV on it, it got a little scratched and the espresso color rubbed off and showed the white wood under it. I fixed this with black shoe polish and its fine now, but I wish the espresso layer of color was a bit harder to have come off.

Over all I am very happy with this purchase, given the chance I would have made the same choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not too tall, but not too pricey... And great quality, April 3, 2011

I bought this looking for a nice looking piece of furniture to go in a fairly low traveled area (bedroom). So it didn't have to look like Thomasville but also didn't want it to look like Goodwill...

Well, this was a success.

LOOK: The piece is almost identical to the photo; it's just a wee bit lighter in normal artificial lighting. But don't be alarmed if your looking for a dark piece, this is it. The unit is dark brown-to-black with a very small hint of red. It doesn't look like fake or cheap wood and the grain and finish of the wood is very attractive and professional. The finish is not glossy, as you can somewhat tell from the product photo. So if you're looking for something so glossy it's reflective, as some people do, then this will not satisfy. But once again, the finish is very nice... just not a glossy one.

MATERIAL: The majority of the stand is made up of what appears to be solid pieces of wood, which has a very nice grain. The side panels to the left and right of the front, and to the rear, are a finished particle board. Don't be alarmed here either. These side/rear panels are probably the nicest, most realistic, pieces I have ever seen. The side panels are almost impossible to identify unless up close under strong lighting, and even then it's not too easy. They even have the illusion of the presence of wood grains in the finish. Unlike some pieces, you cannot easily tell the particle from the wood.

SIZE: This was a little disappointing, but not enough to lose a star. The piece is 36-inches in length from left-to-right. The depth is 15-inches from front-to-rear (top shelf). And the height is 19-inches from floor-to-top. The Length and depth are fine, with flat-screen TV's, depth isn't as important except for boxes, systems and receivers. There are two shelves where they would have to go and the measurements are slightly different. The bottom shelf (enclosed in pull down cover), has a depth of 12.5-inches and a height of 8-inches, with a .75-inch lip limiting actual entry height of about 7-inch and the cover folds down level to the shelf base. The top shelf (exposed) has a depth of 12.5 also and a height of 6-inches, also with about a .75-inch lip. Also the operation of the hinged cover on the bottom is perfect and silent.
Now the height is the only 19-inch and that is not that tall. As a frame of reference, for the average 6ft person, that would only top out at the kneecap. If your putting a flat-screen, then the base of the TV should provide an additional 3-5 inch, depending on size and model. For a picture-tube, you're looking at only an additional inch or so. And if you're using it for a bedroom, as I am, it can be a slight inconvenience. My bed from floor to top of mattress is 26-inch, so laying flat and watching isn't an option unless you'll have it 4-5ft or more from end of bed.

ASSEMBLY: Fairly easy, though you will need some tools, both medium and small phillips-head screw drivers as well as a small flat-head. One issue, which is most likely limited to my unit, was the assembly of the sides. As stated they are just particle board sheets, so the are slid in on tracks located on the top piece, back piece, and on each of the side arms. The track on the right side of the top piece did not line up with the back piece, and not due to incorrect assembly. And thanks to the high quality material of the board sheets, you cannot just force it to fit. The board sheets are very durable and not at all flexible. I had to trim a quarter-inch square section of the upper-rear corner of the sheet in order to fit the front piece on. You cannot tell since no light enters or escapes from the upper-right rear corner of the top shelf. I did not remove a star for this either since I'm sure it was most likely limited to my unit

CAPACITY: I bought this due to a reviewer stating that it has a capacity of 250LBS... I cannot confirm that rating, as I did not see it anywhere in the booklets, they may have found that on the product website, which I haven't visited. However, I have a heavy TV, 90 LBS, and there is no give whatsoever on the top shelf and no creaking or shaking when placed on top, which says a lot, since the majority of a TV's weight is concentrating in the center of the stand or if you have a picture-tube, equally across the bottom. It is very light, but sturdy and the quality of wood should make it very durable over the years. I've had it for two months now and it is still very nice and no issues.

PRICE: For the quality of the material and the finish on the wood and board sheets, this is truly a steal at just over one hundred dollars. If you have no issues with the height being only 19-inch, and cannot afford the high prices of local furniture stores, you cannot go wrong with this piece.

Dimensions again in inches:
UNIT: 36L x 19H x 15Depth
TOP SHELF: 12.5Depth x 5-6H (due to lip)
BOTTOM SHELF: 12.5Depth x 7-8H (due to lip)

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that great!, June 26, 2011

This item looks good finished and it was the perfect size to fit our TV. Huge problem is the holes are too big to fit the screws so the entire thing is very unstable. Just a slight bump and I can see this whole thing falling apart. For the price I would have expected a little better. Not happy with the purchase but I am living overseas at the moment and shipping it back is a burden. We did not put our TV on it for fear that it would collapse and break the TV, instead we use it in the guest room for small storage. 2 stars only for the look of it after finished. Otherwise, not worth it. Get something else!

After searching for months, I discovered this tv stand. The wallspace I had for the tv stand was between two doors and it could be no more than 36 inches. Most tv stands start at 47 inches and get bigger.
The color matched my existing furniture and the bottom opens for storage. It came very well packed and the shipping was free. Best of all, it went together quickly. Overall I thought this purchase was well worth the price.

I purchased this television stand for my 32" lcd. I opted for a one-day shipping and received it the next day.

I opened the box and there were nine pieces. There are five steps. Halfway through the installations, I discovered that the screws supplied would NOT work. The whole unit wasn't stable at all. I moved the unit and he legs fell off.

I ran to the local hardware store and purchased a package of wood screws (8 by 1 3/4) for $.98 cents. I also dipped the screws in the primate-named glue to reinforce the stability. They did the job. I am surprised that the manufacturer didn't supply the correct screws.

Overall, I am pleased. It looks nice. It was inexpensive and very easy to put together. It would have taken me less than a hour to put it together if I didn't have to run to the hardware store.

After putting this item together, it is impossible to believe that it could hold a TV on top of it. It wobbles terribly, the screws are too small for the holes and it is an inferior product. It looks nice, but I am afraid to touch it! I am going to buy reinforcing hinges and bigger screws and attempt to fix it since it is too much of a headache to disassemble and return....

This TV stand was a huge let down. The screws that were included did not fit properly into the pre-drilled holes. I purchased longer screws with a bigger width; but still no luck. The TV Stand is assembled, but it is not sturdy. I plan on buying wood glue to secure if further. I should have avoided the headache and immediately sent it back to the shipper. I do not recommend purchasing this item, it was nothing but a headache.

The holes drilled for the wood screws are too big. They won't even tighten and thus let the unit collapse destroying your TV. Other than that, it is not too bad, as long as you buy the correct size wood screws, or drill out the holes for much more substantial, purchased wood screws (which I did).
