Just bought the book to help plan for possible trips this winter--so far, looks like it offers some sound advice for winter backpacking. Only problem I have is that the book seems to be a 160-page advertisement for Mountain Hardwear. Every article of clothing, every tent, every pack, and almost every bit of gear in every photograph prominently displays the logo, unless Mountain Hardwear just doesn't make one of those (I believe I saw one Thermarest sleeping pad). Not that I have a problem with Mountain Hardwear (they make great stuff), but I just thought it was over-the-top and a bit distracting. Obviously Mountain Hardwear had a heavy investment in this book.

Eventhough I haven't been able to use the information just yet. Middle of summer. I think it has prepared me for what lies ahead, and the information is also good for general backpacking and camping knowledge.
