In the Ivy League, the annual Dartmouth College Winter Carnival celebration is famous (or notorious, depending on your point of view) as a seasonal celebration in the northern New Hamshire woods. For the 30,000 plus Dartmouth alums, the book is a must have. It will evoke memories of mid-winter fun of the type that is losing out to political correctness and the wimpy-ness that now plague college campuses. For others, the art, selected competitively each year from talented student submissions is a barometer of trends in styles and mores in amateur illustration art. No Mona Lisas here, but lots of good design that telegraphs the the tempo of this unique, and uniquely located, college campus.
