Seasonal music with a Native American touch,
By Guardian of the Zen Sea "Indigo" (Looking after the sun and surf) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Winter Celebration (Audio CD)
I just received this CD, even though it has been out for a while. I was interested in geting a copy to play on Public Radio in Alaska. I asked for the CD based on the names of the musicians listed on the tracks, without having heard the music. The CD is way more wonderful than I imagined it could be!! It is always a joy to find a seasonal CD that gives you music you can listen to from fall to spring, as well as over the Christmas season. The selection on the compilation is really excellent. Unfortunately, the listing doesn't tell you much about the music or the artists. Well, the performers include R. Carlos Nakai, Peter Kater, and Joanne Shenandoah, among others. The label which put out this compilation, Silver Wave, is noted for its talented, and popular, Native Amercian musicians, and gentle, mindful Native/New Age crossover music. This is what you will find here. The quality of the music is wonderful, and the moods created will put you in a thoughtful space for winter and the holidays. My copy stated that Silver Wave would make a portion of the proceeds from this CD availble for aid to the homeless--a worthy cause. See what I mean about mindful? This is seasonal music you can enjoy all year round. I highly recommend this one.
