Rich. Reclusive. Ruthless. Courtenay West thought the tabloids had been far too kind in their assessment of Vancouver's powerful shipping magnate, Graydon Winter.

In a lot of ways, this is a "typical Harlequin" in which a rich, ruthless, powerful man falls in love/hate/lust with a broke but beautiful and kind hearted woman about which he believes all manner of bad things.Tiresome.

The difference in this book is that it has a certain morality and humanity missing from other books with similar set-ups.

The writer really lets the reader know how much the heroine is hurt by the past and the hero's actions in the present.

I like how the heroine did not just role over and give the hero what he wanted despite the emotional pain he inflicted.

What I liked most about this book was the ending. How charming and romantic. Why has no one done anything like this is a Harlequin before.

Rich. Reclusive. Ruthless. Courtenay West thought the tabloids had been far too kind in their assessment of Vancouver's powerful shipping magnate, Graydon Winter.

She had made the mistake of loving Gray's brother--and had paid dearly. Not dearly enough, judging by the contempt and determination in Gray's eyes. With or without her, he would claim the family's legacy--Courtenay's daughter.

There was nothing she could do but endure his wrath and conviction that she was a scheming seductress. Their dislike was mutual and intense--only intensifying the raw desire that drove them to a destiny neither one wanted ... or could control.
