5.0 out of 5 stars A book that you will remember for all time
I read this book as a 8th grader in middle school. I only read it because it was the thickest book in the library, which ment it worth a lot of points. From the moment I opened this book I was in the story, and I could feel everything that was going on, I was really there. I can still see myself there and feel the story, I remember the entire storie and it was 6 years...

3.0 out of 5 stars Beware of Subject Matter
Winter of Fire is a captivating book with an excellent overarching theme - equality for all people. However, some subject matter seems a bit "R-Rated!" Almost every time the heroine meets a young man, the young man wants to have sex with her. At one point the couple, that barely know eachother, are half naked before she stops. She does stop the young man every time,...

From the moment I opened this book I was in the story, and I could feel everything that was going on, I was really there. I can still see myself there and feel the story, I remember the entire storie and it was 6 years ago that I first picked it up. I would have to encourge that this storie be read by all children and adults, as it takes you to this place of adventure and sadness. I believe that all parents should read this storie to their children. It will bring you and your child closer together.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved beyond words, January 21, 2000
This review is from: Winter of Fire (Library Binding)
Even though this book is loved beyond words i will try to describe it for you. It's about a teenage girl and her struggle against prejudice. It left me a changed person, inspired to live my life differently. I was also inspired to write this review by the worst review of this book I have read. That review was from Kirkus reviews. They stated that the main character sounded like a "walking essay", and that the relationshipes throughout the book were "confused rather than complex." This review is a far cry from the actual book and the reviewer has failed to find the message in the book. The book taught me about the struggles people will endure when fighting for something they believe in. Being a young black woman (now years after my first reading of the book) I applied this to my life and strugglers I have had to endure. This is a great book for young women to enjoy. I strongly recommend reading this book, and hope it will become one of your favorits too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book for those who have a hard time staying interested, July 5, 2003

This review is from: Winter of Fire (Point) (Paperback)
I am not a reader of many books. I cannot seem to find a book that can keep my interest for very long and i almost never finish a book. There are 3 books that have caught my attention and heart. Winter of Fire is one of them.
I have read this book over a dozen times and find myself wanting to start reading it all over again when i am finished. It is hard to express how i feel about this book in alot of words. All i can say that it is outstanding! The determination of the character and the beauty, love and chaos of the book so well written i can literally see it unfolding in my minds eye.
That is when a book is truely a great when you feel you are there living it with the character. It is certainly a must read. I had this book for a long time and since lost it. I have found it here in this amazon web site and will surely own it again with the great price here!

So, you've already read over and over again what this book is about--I won't bore you with a summary, let me instead tell you that I first read this book in 9th grade and the story was soo rich and imaginative that I am now 24, still own the book and still read it from time to time. You will not be disappointed.

I'm a twenty year-old college student and an avid fantasy reader. I first read this book when I was ten and its still one of my favorites. Elsha is one of the strongest and admirable heroines of all time, and Sherryl Jordan is one of the reasons I want to become an author myself.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book, July 12, 2004
This review is from: Winter of Fire (Hardcover)
This is a very good book. From the moment I picked it up, I was drawn into the plot, and empathised with Elsa, the main character, easily. It tells the story of her rebellion against her society's ways and discrimination, and is a wonderful book which leaves the reader with a sense of resolve. I recommend this book for anyone for even though it is thick, it is exciting and you just keep on turning the pages, something is always happening and it is NEVER boring. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars compelling adn fun to read, May 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Winter of Fire (Hardcover)
I read this book for the first time in eighth grade and loved it. I was haunted by the characters, by the story, and by the world Jordan created. I read it for probably the fiftieth time again this year (I'm in college now) and was just as drawn in and enchanted. It's not a hard book to read, but it has some amazingly complicated ideas about morality, prejudice, and tradition. Read it, love it, tell everyone you know!

5.0 out of 5 stars It NEEDS to still be printed!, April 1, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Winter of Fire (Point) (Paperback)
I have read the book Winter of Fire many, many times and have never ever got tired of reading, ever! The majority of the people that have rated this book (which is like everyone) put it as a 5 star book which makes me think that it should still be being printed! It is my favorite book in the whole wide world and not having it in the local stores is slowing killing me! Please start printing it again!I'm begging you, please!

From a loving reader.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, November 11, 2002
By
This review is from: Winter of Fire (Turtleback)
This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It's my favorite book in the world. Very descriptive, totally captures you and brings you right into the book. I've read the book so many times that there is no front cover on it and the back cover is wearing off and starting to fall off too. Even the words are starting wear out. I don't know where the book is, which makes me very sad, and I'm tryin to find a new one, but the book is absolutely amazing.
