From companionship to love.,
By
This review is from: Winter Love Story (Harlequin Romance, No. 3626) (Paperback)
Claudia Ramsay first met Thomas Tait-Bullen when he came to consult on her Great Uncle William's health. Subsequent meetings after William's death leads Thomas to propose marriage, believing Claudia would make a most suitable companion.A nice gentle tale that rings of another time. No sexual hijinks, but a satisfying read, filled with Neels' exquisite use of language and vibrant descriptions. One of the best writers in the old, but still popular subgenre of sweet romance. She never fails to elicite a deep sigh of content from me and is a nice change from the intensity of my other favorites, such as Diana Palmer.

Vintage Neels,

Betty Neels is in my opinion one of the best Harlequin romance authors and she clearly deserves to be. A winter love story is a traditional tale about Claudia Ramsay who is offered a proposal of marriage by Dr.Tait-Bullen. A marriage of companionship not love. But with the passing of time, will they grow fonder of each other? Betty has penned a traditonal romance which as the other reviewer said, seems to belong in another era. However, though you can't fail to keep turning the pages and close the book with a sigh of content.

Books by Betty Neels can be read by your daughters.Based loosely on her own love story - her stories never fail to cement one's belief in real love. Love seems to sneak up on her male characters while most of the time her ladies are more than willing to fall in love. And when Mr. Thomas Tait-Bullen nearly loses his self control you know there is hope as he continues to watch his wife at the Christmas party. You can almost feel his emotion. |
