I bought this cd without having heard it half on a whim and half on the testimonial of an acquaintance about whom I only know that he likes Belle and Sebastian as much as I do. I am floored. This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. I think the band's name appropriate--their sound is certainly soft, even spare. It's the kind of soft and spare that would be spoiled by the inculsion of any more. This is the sort of cd that has me cursing the lost years between when it came out and when I finally heard about it and bought it.

the softies, time and time again, soothe the ears of those needing the occasional breathe from the sometimes noise oriented indie world. if you liked tigertrap or go sailor, this is a must. rose's sweet voice is never a let down. the song "excellent" is aural ecstasy especially for those in love with love.

Finally, Finally, Finally, finally, finally a band who isn't scared to tranquilize there audience. It's just so calming to listen to. I'm proud to say I'm a big fan of Rose Melberg and the Softies. The songs are mellow, peaceful, and refreshing. I mean, I love to rock out to loud, obnoxious music, but, there comes a time to just sit back and relax, you dig??
The music of this band is of there own. I would definitely recommend this band to someone who need a time out. Relax.
