Great for the workday or a cocktail party,

I just got this CD! I always buy 1 new chrismas CD every year and this was it for 2009; in addition to being my first Beegie Adair. I have a home office and I love listening to this quietly in the background (no vocals). It would also be great to have on if you had a few friends over for a bit more upscale cocktail party. I like instrumental CDs and typically choose solo piano albumns or quiet medidative type styles. This is just slightly more upbeat, but still relaxing while I'm working at my desk without disrupting me. I start listening to christmas music just after halloween, and I'll be listening to this one all season long for many Christmas' to come. I think I'll try some other Beegie Adair CDs for the rest of the year.

I like everything that Bee gee Adair plays. It is the music of the era in which I grew up, the 40s and 50s.I have many of her CDs. I prefer just her trio. No horns or reeds. I play keyboards myself and if I hear the same tunes over and over I will eventually be able to play them.
Her tempo is neither too fast nor too slow. She makes her music swing. It is very listenable. Amazon has everything I would ever want. I can always find stuff at this site, and I get my items promptly.

"Winter Romance (2009) ... Beegie Adair ... Green Hill",
This review is from: Winter Romance (Audio CD)
Green Hill Productions presents "WINTER ROMANCE", featuring Beegie Adair on piano, Roger Spencer (bass), Chris Brown (drums), Jack Jezzro (guitar), Denis Solee (tenor sax), Jeff Steinberg (keyboards), Eric Darken (percussion) --- and this makes up the cast from the latest Beegie Adair release with a full orchestra "Winter Romance".
About her music Adair says, "Falling in love with jazz is like falling in love with a person, except with jazz you never get over it." --- Once in a while a musician comes along with impeccable technique, deep understanding of the jazz repertoire, an innate tendency to swing and the rare ability to communicate the heart and soul of a tune to listeners. That musician is Beegie Adair. Winter Romance (Track Listings) 1. I'll Be Home For Christmas [4:00] 2. Winter Wonderland [3:54] 3. Merry Christmas Darling [4:10] 4. Sleigh Ride [3:59] 5. Santa Baby [3:27] 6. A Winter Romance 4[:51] 7. It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas [4:07] 8. A Child Is Born [3:58] 9. Mistletoe And Holly [3:41] 10.Snowfall [4:32] 11.It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year [4:25] 12.Auld Lang Syne [3:27] Beegie is citing George Shearing, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Erroll Garner among her influences, Adair has recorded over 20 CDs, ranging from Cole Porter standards to Frank Sinatra classics to romantic World War II ballads --- Her 6-CD Centennial Composers Collection of tunes by Irving Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Richard Rodgers became an instant collectible classic when it was released in 2002 --- Adair is as close as one gets to a vocalist at the piano, seldom leaving the melody behind, always acknowledging that what she's playing is a song, in this case without the words. This Holiday album plays like snow gentling falling from the sky --- flowing very easily on the ears, as once again Green Hill comes through with a must have for all yuletide greeters and fans of Beegie --- Arrangements by Jeff Steinberg take on those special Holiday decorations in musical tastes with the same sensitivity and tender care as her previous albums --- another great outing for executive producer Greg Howard --- celebrate those special times of the year with the recordings of Beegie Adair. Total Time: 45 min on 12 Tracks ~ GHD 5611 ~ (10/06/2009)
