Editorial Reviews

Review

"Comprehensive program that makes it easy for covens, choirs, churches, and community groups to celebrate the return of the light." -- Skye Alexander, New Age Retailer, July/August 2002

"Everything you need to create a powerful, musically exquisite celebration. Teaching tools are so good singers will astound their communities." -- Robert Gass, EdD, author of "Chant: Discovering Spirit in Sound"

"I love the universality: calypso, choral singing, Native American, Greek mythology, feminist rounds, Pagan chants, hymns. Order this kit!" -- Rev. Christa Landon, Unitarian Universalist minister

From the Publisher

This is a deep and dark Solstice ritual which leads particpants into awareness of their own inner light. It's a non-denominational ritual using a basic ritual format which will offend no one. It makes a wonderful bridge for those who've not been exposed to Earth-based spirituality, and encourages even deeper participation for those who have. This is definitely a participatory ritual: the audience sings along on many songs and meditates on the darkness of their past year and the light each carries within.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific non-denominational ritual!, October 13, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: A Winter Solstice Singing Ritual (Paperback)
We used this wonderful ritual in our circle - we did the readings and meditations, and played the CD and sang along to the songs we knew - and it was great! The ritual was deep and dark and would be good for a church or a community gathering, as it IS Pagan, but it's not overtly so. The songs were really well chosen ones - and ranged from a 4-part chorus piece to simple rounds and some fun sing-alongs. We're definitely do it next Solstice, and we're thinking about putting it on on a larger scale! There's about 30 pages of notes in the back that will help on producing it. You can't go wrong with this one!

This book and companion CD were recommended by a friend and I love it! I wish there were more of these for other seasons/sabbats. There needs to be more music out there like this!

My only complaint (which is minor, really) is that the sheet music and the songs on the CD aren't in the same key. But since there is a breakout of each of the parts in the CD version, that's really not much of an issue.

Make more! I'll buy them!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: A Winter Solstice Singing Ritual (Paperback)
the book is great; all the pages are there and there are no errors.

the disc, however, is defective. I purchased this new just so I could have a decent disc. So, I am not happy with that aspect of the purchase.
