A Decent Wii Fit Sports Alternative With Great Multi-Player Support,
By
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Winter Sports 2 The Next Challenge (Video Game)
What we were looking for was a game that expanded on the Winter-themed balance games that come with the Wii Fit (Slalom, Ski Jump, Snow Board), and this game delivered that quite nicely. Lucky for us, the Ski-Jump and Downhill disciplines are the best ones in the game.
The Snow Boarding Half Pipe and Speed-Skating aren't bad either. Essentially, all the games that used the Wii Fit to good affect were our favorites. Unfortunately, this cancels out about half of the games. The Biathlon mechanics are horrible. All of the Louge/Skeleton games are essentially the same, but they changed the mechanics slightly on each one to make them appear different, and in my opinion, they all failed to entertain. MULTI-PLAYER: Another aspect we were looking for was good multi-player support, as the Wii Fit software really wasn't designed for multi-player. This game really came through on multi-player support! In its simplest form, you can play single events with one player, and when you earn a high score, you are able to enter any name you want into the high-score table. But if you want you can configure each single event to have up to 4 players, with each player having their own name (and country) - This way, you are competing for placement in the event, but your names are auto-filled in if you earn a high-score. Lastly, you can configure a multi-event competition with up to 4 players and select the exact events you want to compete in. NOTE: Two, three or four-person multi-player is done using one single controller/fit that you give to the next player after each turn. For two-person multi-player, you also have the option of using 2 controllers in split-screen mode - I can't say exactly how this works as we haven't tried this feature yet. We're happy enough just swapping controllers, and we only have one Wii Fit anyway. SUMMARY: Although I'm a bit disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy all of the events that come with this game, I am satisfied and believe the game was worth the asking price.

Winter Sports 2: Another infamous wii party game?,

Winter Sports 2: The Ultimate Challenge is a game that takes you through being a virtual Olympian as you go through many different events. I got this game using a pre-birthda gift card I got, and I bought it mainly because I love Sport games for the wii. The first thing I noticed was that the balance board controls were impossible for me, but things were okay with the remote and nunchuck. I must say, the graphics aren't amazing, the gamesplay CAN be shallow, and the commentary is cheesy, but overall I'm glad I got it. Here is a run down of the events:
Downhill skiing and Super G: 5/5: These are two of my favorite events and definitely my favorite skiing events. The timing and presicion you need to get the best time is amazingly depicted in this part of the game. Slalom and Giant Slalom skiing: 3/5: it's not the stength of this game for many reasons. A few being that the rules are a little too strict (a disqualification for missing a couple of gates) but with practice I'm sure that it will bemore fun for me and you if you buy this game. Ski Jumping: 2/5: I really don't understand the mechanics of this one, and quite a few don't either. I try to stay away from these when I can. Snowboarding Halfpipe: 3/5: One of the more boring games in here, mainly because it's very repetitive. Bobsledding, Luge, Skeleton: 4/5: These are the triplet games. I call them that because they are all the same styles of gameplay. But it's a good thing that that style of gameplay is fun. Speed Skating: 5/5: very entertaining and unique style of gameplay. One of my favorites. Curling: 2/5: I've never liked this game in general, so I tried it once and was done. Biathon: 5/5: A very fun game that brings a real and exciting feel to the table. There are button to make you glide downhill and the shooting part is very well done. Figure Skating: 4/5: A surprisingly good event, very similar to most dancing games on the wii. But somehow it still feels fresh.

Sorry, this game is rather lame. Does not work well with the balance board and frankly I hate the commentators! Graphics are nice but instructions for the game are not very clear. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't buy it. Sorry, guys. Will probably put it up for sale. I glad it was only [...]

This game is fun but not for the novice. It is a bit of a challenge to get used to the different moves. I'm still trying to figure it all out.

I got this game because it was less expensive than the Shaun White game, it seemed to have different games that you could play not just snowboarding and they had it used at the store so I could try it for 7 days and if I didn't like it I could take it back... Well I am taking it back! It is kind of confusing, the balance board capability is nice but not very intuitive and it is hard to get used to playing it. The worst part of the game is the announcers (you can turn them off but it took a bit to figure out how)they are constantly insulting you as you learn how to play and they have the same side conversation with each other about some fight one of them had with a judge or something in every single game. If you are trying to decide between this and Shaun White's game go with Shaun White!!! I borrowed that game from a friend after getting this one and it is great because it is so intuitive and they don't insult you! I am going to cough up the extra cash and get that game instead of this one!

My grandson was very happy & satisfied with this game. He has lots of sports games and this just added to his collection.
Thanks for a good shopping experience, Amazon!

So if you have Summer or Resort Sports games I think they are both better than this one. It seems harder to control the movements on-screen... but maybe I just need more practice...?

Game has weak events with in it and takes forever to load. Graphics are nice but not great. Music gets annoying and the gameplay is weak at best.
