"A Winter Walk" reflection,
By
This review is from: A Winter Walk (Hardcover)
"A Winter Walk" is a thought provoking journey through many cultures and customs that we may or may not have been familiar with before. Brother Toby's reflections touch a cord with all of us as we approach the holiday season. What we all want is time to connect or reconnect with those we care most about. In the midst of chaos and hectic holiday moments Brother Toby encourages us to take risks rather than become numb, cold and distant. He claims that his moments of vulnerability, while not always successful, like declaring to his teens that there will be a Family-At-Home Friday, are important. The point Brother Toby makes is that it is in letting down our defenses that we truly are revitalized and our spirits renewed.
In these tumultuous times, we need to be renewed and reminded about the sacred that surrounds each of us. We may find it gazing at the stars or rocking a sleepy child. "A Winter Walk" is in my mind, a wonderful, reflective book that prepares us for the opportunities and the joys the winter season can bring while introducing us to fascinating historical accounts and diverse cultural celebrations. Intensely personal and universal,
By M. Peck (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Winter Walk (Hardcover)
A WINTER WALK is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. A combination of the intensely personal and the universal. What more could you want! It's making the rounds among my friends.
Our world needs a book like this to heighten our awareness of what we have in common and can share. The understanding that will bring all of us together. That is the great message of this book. I recognized myself in many of the sections, like the family hunting for the perfect Christmas tree. And now I've discovered the perfect holiday gift book. I can't wait to give it to relatives and friends this year. |
