Book Description

Romance Writers Hall of Fame recipient and five time RITA award winner Kathleen Creighton presents Winter's Daughter...

Disguise. Subterfuge. They were not Tannis Winter's forte'. But she was determined to finish her Thesis, and that meant immersing herself in her subject--the homeless culture. But when a mysterious derelict begins to stalk her, she shoves him into the path of a police car and flees into the safety of suburbia and her family.

Newly elected City Councilmember Dillon James leaves the police station bruised but determined. His run in with a quick-witted, skittish bag lady convinces him that his undercover work to save programs that protect the poor and vulnerable is a worthy endeavor.

Can these two emotionally wary people learn to trust each other? Is healing their hearts even possible? Or will their predilection for disguise sabotage a love based on far more than simple desire?

“Ms. Creighton gets more depth into the short love story than many an author does in a full-length novel.” ~ ROMANTIC TIMES

5.0 out of 5 stars Well done, very interesting October 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure how I would like this book because the book description only mildly interested me. I really ended up enjoying it. Although the cover says it's a "Short Contemporary Novel" it wasn't really that short. The author did a good job with the length of drawing you in to the story. I felt like I really grew to know both of the characters. I liked that this book gave me a greater awareness of hte plight of the homeless. At the same time, it wasn't so heavily done that I missed out on romantic elements of the story. I liked the sparks that flew between the two main characters. I found it to be very romantic and enjoyable to read. I think if you give it a try you won't be disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Eh at best January 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The elevated language in the beginning of the book sounds way too forced. The storyline is ok at best but drags on quite a bit.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable read January 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Winter's Daughter was an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the romance aspect of it, which is what drew me in to download in on the Kindle, but there's also a good plot about some of the challenges that homeless people do encounter.

I do not think this book is for everyone - if you are uncomfortable hearing about homeless people, people who happen to be down on their luck and you don't want to think about any ways that society can help them, then this book isn't for you.

But if you can overlook that and you enjoy romantic tales where the 2 main characters, meet and find they have something in common and you want to see how their relationship grows, then I think you'll enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read December 31, 2012

I was drawn in by the title and became instantly involved in the story the moment it began. I loved that it was a romance novel with a common thread that bound the two lovebirds, it made for a seamless story. You could really feel each character's emotions, their frustrations and fears and passions. Definitely well written save for a few typos. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Nice romance with only one scene inappropriate for younger readers. Nicely shows the problem cities have with the homeless and how they with this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Background information and research superb
The background information and research into the era for Wales and England was excellent, but the witchcraft felt pinned onto an otherwise excellent book.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok book
Simple and sweet. This book is a little silly but cute. Wish the "heroine" had been given more strength and not made to seem so vulnerable and weak.
