Great idea!,
By
This review is from: Wipe Clean Letters (Board book)
I bought this book for my 3 1/2 year old boy. He is very interested in letters, but has been too frustrated trying to "start from scratch." What a great idea! First, there are tons of pictures, which he really likes. And there are big letters to trace, which helps his confidence. Also, the surface is smooth, which makes for easier writing. He has gone from writing no letters, to almost all of them within a week of getting this book. It's great.
My only complaint is that the "big" letter on each page is a lower case letter. Since almost everything at his age that concentrates on letters is uppercase, it has thrown him for a loop, but there are small versions of the capital letters on each page, so we are working on that.

Pen dries up too fast!,
This review is from: Wipe Clean Letters (Board book)
I really love the book, and I bought two of them but the pens dried up in less than a week. Should put a great pen to match a great book.

This book was a gift for my daughter and she loved tracing the letters and the other activites they had in the book. I even found myself doing some of the activities. I then bought it for my niece and she loved it too. Nice little gift.

My daughter got this from a friend on her 4th birthday. I thought it might be a little advanced at first for her, but she absolutely loves it. She loves the praise she gets for doing it right too. She has never worked on her letters before (they haven't taught it at preschool yet), so its new for her, and very exciting. She loves it when we watch her and she works on letters from her name. The pictures in the book also help a lot to associate the letter with the picture. Great item!!

My 3 almost 4 year old daughter loves this book and has really improved dramatically in her writing skills over the course of only a month or two. (She's not much of one for coloring or drawing so this was a welcome surprise!) True, the pen isn't great, but it doesn't matter ... you can get nontoxic dry erase pens at tons of places (Target, Staples, etc.).

Wipe off problems,

Unlike the other reviewer, I found the pen the book comes with to be of high-quality. Better than average. The problem I had was that my kids tend to destroy felt-tip pens... smashing the tip and leaving the cap off. When I have tried other name-brand dry erase markers in the book, it seems that the ink won't completely wipe off the page. We've used crayons, but again, they are a PAIN to wipe off. If you buy this book for your own kids, you'll need to safeguard the pen, but then that kind of defeats the purpose.
As a book about letters and writing letters, I found the text to be a bit too small for kids just learning to write, and I take issue with the designer for placing the line for writing the letters at the top of the page rather than the middle or towards the bottom because the child is drawn to the center of the page to begin the easier exercises first, so that they quickly learn that if they try to practice the letters on the top line, the smudge the whole page and get marker all over their sleeves.

Fun, educational activity for my kids. They love it!
I also recommend using baby wipes to clean the pages - it works perfectly. The kids clean it and it's become part of the fun.

Very Motivating,
This review is from: Wipe Clean: Learn to Write Your Letters : 26 Wipe-Clean Pages of Letter-Writing Fun (Wipe Clean) (Hardcover)
I can't really explain why, but my 5-year old enjoys writing in this book so much more than pencil and paper. The pen that comes with it does not last long, but the book is what you are really buying. We bought a set of dry erase markers in various colors to add to the fun. The book wipes clean easily.

my daughter is 3 and a half, and really liked this book. she was having trouble writing from scratch, and within less than a week, she had much improved both her ability to trace as well as her ability to write letters on her own. and she thinks it's a fun game.
