2.0 out of 5 stars Reduced the number of players October 30, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Wipeout in the Zone, the first Wipeout game for the Kinect, while it has it flaws, is fun. The four of us (Mom, Dad, and 2 boys) get together and have a few laughs watching each other get knocked about. We gladly purchased this version, Wipeout 2, but when we booted up the game we found that it's only for 2 players! I've never seen a video game series reduce the number of players from one version to the next. Hugely disappointed.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I first rented the first wipeout for Kinect to play it with a few friends on a friday night since we loved watching the show. The game was fun and we got some good exercise from it but it got a little repetitive and boring after a while honestly but it was worth the rental. When we heard Wipeout 2 was coming so soon after the first one came out we were hoping for more content and a lot of fixes.

Some of the issues that we had difficulty with the first time was when we would jump the game wouldn't respond for a second or two causing us to miss the obstacle and just a lot of other calibration issues with our movements. We didn't get what we were hoping for in fixes with this second one but we did get some more content and winter and summer obstacles.

The replays are kind of annoying. You should be able to just choose if you want to watch yourself run the course afterwards and then they can do the replays as if you were watching the show itself, I thought that would be pretty cool. The game itself is pretty fun besides all that especially if you have a lot of friends to take turns or a big family gathering. Just like watching the show, its fun to watch people throwing themselves around the set and in this case your living room.

Wipeout 2 seemed like it should have been an update or expansion pack, not a full game. With that said, I would recommend this game to any family. If you want to save some money get the first one because there's not much difference besides the season settings. One major benefit we noticed is we didn't realize how much we were exercising jumping around until we had to sit down and catch our breath after our turns, haha.

1.0 out of 5 stars controls are horrible February 12, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
My 8-yr old and I started playing this one evening, very excited to get home with it, and we were frustrated simply by creating our characters.

The Kinect works for us in other games but in Wipeout 2 it wouldn't see our hands; it had trouble recognizing us, it would think I was standing on the right, then the left; small movements were interpreted as a Ruuuun/Super Jump; big movements were equally wrong; we were constantly knocking each other off platforms with the chaotic and unintentional movements of our characters; we actually starting yelling at each other. Then I said, "I have had enough" and he agreed, and the game has gone into the box.

We talked about giving this a favorable review and trying to sell it to someone but we can't ethically do that. The game stinks and I will not give it a second chance. For your sake, I hope you don't give it a first chance.

Maybe single player is better???? I wished, WISHED, they would just use the control pad. That could make this game fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit difficult for younger kids, but still fun!! December 31, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
This game is probably as difficult to master as the real live game. I would not recommend this for kids younger than 10 years of age. Our 8 year old and 9 year old got frustrated and stopped playing it. However, in an attempt to help them understand how to maneuver the obstacles I had a blast. We ended up playing this during an adult party we had for the holidays. I would suggest this for ages 11 and up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great potential, horrible execution June 17, 2012

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
As a fan of the Wipeout show on TV, I thought being able to play via Kinect would be really awesome; however, this game is probably the worst I've played. Don't get me wrong, the idea is great, and it even starts out seeming like you might be able to do pretty well after getting the hang of things, but unfortunately, this is not the case.

The character you control will mimic your movements to a degree, but once you get into the game itself, it'll be nearly impossible to figure out what causes your character to run, jump, duck, slide, etc, and essentially, the game does whatever it wants. No amount of skill allows you to master the controls. It seems pretty impossible to win at anything, and the game developer clearly recognizes this, since new levels automatically unlock even after getting last place in each competition before it.

Bottom line: Wipeout 2 is uncontrollable, unplayable, and completely untenable.

Spend your money elsewhere, because this game is not worth your time.

New to xbox and we are huge fan of this gameshow! We have the game for wii but it doesn't compare to kinect. It's a whole load of fun. You actually get a work out and get tired lol..
The game does have a few glitches. Like I noticed that sometimes you wipeout for no reason. But it doesn't bother me because that's the name of the game.. I think the wipeouts are funny and our family has a lot of fun playing this game and laughing at each other. Def worth the money!
