Forget all the pop-punk/emo/post-whatever that is getting oh so popular. You need some spastic keyboard induced punk, thats where Your Enemies Friends come in. While barely comparable to anyone, Selby Tigers, xBxRx, The Icarus Line, and Fugazi does come to mind when listening to them, but that hardly says anything. While all music has its roots, this music is completely original. Amazing melodic singing, even more amazing ranting and yelling, whether it be done be a man or a women. The keyboard makes this feel like a carnival ride, and the garage-rock feel gives it a timeless quality. Right about now you shouldn't be reading this review, you should be at your local indepent record store buying this. Buddyhead, what can't they do?

Since Murder City broke up, someone has to do it . . .,

For those mourning the demise of Seattles Murder City Devils, cheer up. There is hope as long as bands like Your Enemies Friends are around. On their debut EP, the band tears through six songs in classic Murder City fashion, with dark lyrics on par with those of The Faint or Alkaline Trio. The out-of-control keyboard parts paired up with the guy/girl vocals answers the question: what would The Anniversary sound like if they decided to rock out? In the end, the 22 minute EP leaves you wanting more. If having played This Aint No Picnic (the seminal indie-rock festival that spawned the likes of At The Drive-In and Pinback) is any indication, Your Enemies Friends are worth separating from the myriad other rock bands and adding to your record collection. You might like this record if you like: Pretty Girls Make Graves, The Faint, Dead Low Tide

this is an awesome debut. some guy down there said they sound too much like at the drive in? that is one of the worst comparisons ever. but then you know that guy was full of crap cause he then says radio vago sounds like atdi.

The EP here is incredible. Back of a Taxi (from their forthcomming cd) is even better. As good as the band is on this new-wave-hard-core-punk-hybrid-thing EP, they are even better live. The live show is an absolutely mindblowing set from beginning to end. Buddyhead found a winner.

Yes this EP is killer, but it just gives us a taste of what's to come. The amazing thing is that these kids were like 20 when they wrote this mature, musically advanced album. Look for the new full length (out now or soon?).

At The Drive-In anybody?,

I listened to Your Enemies Friends expecting something original, as they are on Buddyhead's record label, but I was sadly mistaken. While there are some original aspects to YEF's music, they are just another rehash of At The Drive-In. Does Buddyhead have some kind of infatuation with At The Drive-In? Radio Vago sounds like them too, only the usage of a synth (?) is incorporated into the music.Don't get me wrong. This is good music, just don't expect anything totally original or revolutionizing.

UNORIGINAL PIECE OF POO,

Why does this band exist? Why the offkey shouting? Why the overdone keyboards being chased by the guitars and vice versa? Why the manufactured angst? Why? I bought this cuz I like Pretty Girls and missed them on tour with them, but this was like the byproduct of indie shoutalong crap. This will sound super duper dated in five years. Thumbs DOWN.
