Refreshing Christian Rock Music,
By
This review is from: Wire (Audio CD)
I mainly brought this CD after listening to the radio version of 'I Believe' and 'You Are Mine', which are two of the melodious and glorious songs I have heard from this genre. It is a CD where the lyrics outshine the sound of the music. And the lead vocalist attests to this, brings a clarity to the music and the messages. The themes that run through this album is the faith in God and being proud of calling ones' self Christian and saying proudly "I Believe in God" as the lyrics say in the song "I Believe".
I have since listening to 'Wire' purchased the whole range of Third Day's albums. The music is uplifting and at the same time makes the listener think and if they wish sing along to the songs. My belief in God is stronger listening to Third Day and I thank the band for that. The song 'You Are Mine', is simply enchanting and I shed several tears listening to the beautiful lyrics sung at a exceptional emotional level. Any fan of Across The Sky will love Third Day.

3rdDay -- perfect blend of spirituality and musical talent!,

I truly enjoyed "Time" (and still do), and was thrilled with "Come Together." But each had their weaknesses. "Time" was too low-keyed, while "Come Together" was too pop. (Hey, I love both CDs, but there are a few songs on each that just bring them down a bit.) But "Wire" seems to have gotten the recipe just right. When Third Day someday receives a Lifetime Achievement Award, this is one of the albums that will be a highlight. This band is consistently on the mark with lyrics, music, and delivery. And "Wire" delivers.

Not for Spoon Fed Baby Christians,
By Dustin M. Stamper (Whiteland, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wire (Audio CD)
I have read several reviews that don't concern the musicianship, quality, or playability of this album. It's all about wanting to hear the Lord's name. That's what the "Offerings" albums were for.Several people have stated that the words lack spirituality. If you can't "feel" God in this album, then you need to be spoon fed or have someone else help you figure it out. Just one example -- in the first song, "'Til The Day I Die", the lyrics say ~ "Nobody's ever gonna love you like I am". Hmmmm...who do you think "I" is? How does that make the song un-spiritual? Does Mac and the boys have to spell it out for you like this ~ "Nobody's ever gonna love you like The Lord Jesus Christ is" ? Remember the quentissential Third Day song, "Love Song" that is soooo spiritual? Ever remember them saying anything about God? It's IMPLIED! My point is that you need to think for yourself, see Third Day in concert, see all the good that they do outside of their recorded music and in their families before you write a review that dissuades others from listening. Use your brains and imagination. God rocks and so does this album!

A personal album,
This review is from: Wire (Audio CD)
It's not conspiracy #6, it isn't Offerings III, so what is wire?
Answer: The most personal album I've ever heard When i first heard the Third Day was making a new album i was excited. I find alot of "Christian music" to be either too cliche or sub par. But Third Day is one of the few bands that i truely get excited about and have followed over the years. Rumors spread that this would be the bands newest rock album, which was exciting to believe...what we got was even better. Third Day didn't write this album to win awards or put out the latest worship song. They made a personal album that is aplicable to everybody. "My heart I could not trust, cause it lies to me too much, and my mind just couldn't understand it all", "Sometimes the night starts closing in, And I've lost my way home again, I'm running out of places I can turn, Enemies on every side, Not a friend around for miles, That's the time it really starts to hurt"....These lines aren't written cause they'll sell well, they're honest. Songs that I initially didn't pay much attention to had me in tears a couple months later because of how real it struck. And with every song the music fits the emotion. So what is the overall musical style of the album? It ranges from the conispiracy 5 like "Till The Day I Die" to the acoustic driven "I will hold my head high"...This is by far the most mature the band has sounded. This is a must album. By far the best they have made!

Currently Christian music's best rock band.,

Atlanta-based rockers Third Day return with "Wire," the band's seventh full-length album. Produced by Paul Ebersold (Three Doors Down) and mixed by Brendan O'Brien (Soundgarden, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, King's X), "Wire" is an excellent rock album that kicks some serious butt from beginning to end. Lyrically, this is the first album from 3D in which God and Jesus Christ are not mentioned by name. However, the Christian themes remain very obvious, as evidenced on songs like "Come On Back To Me," "I Believe," "You Are Mine," "I Will Hold My Head High" & the poignant "Innocent." Some other noteworthy tracks include the title track, "'Till The Day I Die," "Billy Brown," "Blind" & the humorous "Rockstar," which serves as a rebuke to musicians who seek only fame & fortune & the lifestyle and perks that go with stardom. "Wire" is a great album, which shows an interesting new direction for Third Day and their ministry, and I look forward to seeing where they go from here.

Wow, this is Christian music?,

My husband was surprised that there was a message in these songs. He didn't realize what he was listening to until he was hooked.
This is a good album. If you want good music, buy it. If you want catchy lyrics that really grab you when you listen, buy it. (My four-year-old son walks around singing "Rockstar" and I can't get "Innocent" out of my head.) If you're looking for an album for a young christian, I don't think you can go wrong with this one. If you can listen to "You Are Mine" without feeling convicted and loved, then you just aren't listening. I just may wear that track out, I play it so much! Really Great Album!

Great all around solid cd,

I really like this cd. Being a bass player for 18 years and drinking booze to old secular rock albums for nearly as long. After becoming a christian, and going through "christian" cd's and bands just about tired me out. Then comes, "Third Day". "Wire" is a great mix of songs. The album has texture!!, "which I really like". This band is getting better and better. I would much rather stick this cd in, instead of what I used to listen to. And I get a great vibe from listening to it. It is not one of their worship albums, but I still get edified from it. Nothing wrong with this cd at all. Great guitars, bass, drums and Mac Powell is an absolutely incredible vocalist. To me, this is one of Third Day's best efforts.

Never out of my CD player for long!,

Every song is great...I can't keep it out of my CD player for very long! My 5-yr-old daughter loves "Wire"...she messes up the words, but she doesn't care! My favorites are "Come on back to Me" because it gives such a great message of hope...no matter what you've done, no matter where you are, He always invites you to "come on back"...and "I will hold my head high" which inspires me to stand up for God regardless of the challenges. I also love "Innocent" which helps me remember how powerful the gift of salvation is. My least favorite is "Billy Brown", which I usually fast forward through. This CD rocks, and I love it!!!

Superb!,

As is the norm with albums done by Third Day, this one is superb.
This has a definite rock flavor in comparison to their worship albums. The lyrics continue to be meaningful. The sound is top notch. Their musical abilities are amazing and Mac Powell's voice is incredible. This is a great CD for any fan of Christian music. It is also one that any rock fan can enjoy. Some of the really great tracks on this are as follows: Come On Back to Me, 'Til the Day I Die, Wire, and Blind. I would definitely recommend this.

Whole CD Is Worth It,
This review is from: Wire (Audio CD)
This is one of those CDs that doesn't disappoint. The lead singer for this group sounds like a cross between Travis Tritt and the Van Zandt brothers. The rock musicianship is very good, with plenty of riffs, catchy intros matched to interesting lyrics, which are well understood even without the liner notes. I like every song and the band's style. This CD is Christian rock - not grunge, heavy metal, garage or pop. However, every song is not overtly Christian. Some are simply good tunes, such as San Angelo, an ode to the city itself, and I Wanna Be a Rock Star. But the positive message is still clearly at the root of all the lyrics.
