Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Wired for Learning, a book about learning strategies for grades K-12, is aimed at educators and parents but struggling a bit to find its audience. For the teacher who wants to get started using the Internet in the classroom or as part of the curriculum, the book works well as a jumping-off point. It covers some techniques for using e-mail, chat, and the World Wide Web in the classroom, and it includes a great number of well-chosen sites to visit, both for more information about using the Internet for educational applications and for actual educational applications on the Net.

At times it falters a bit, and in general it is aimed at getting an educator up to speed on subscribing to publicly accessible mailing lists, using MOOs, and preparing Web pages. It is less well adapted for the seasoned Web surfer or Internet pro, who would probably find the material superficial. But for a teacher new to the Internet, or just getting started using computers in the classroom, this title might help.
