I got this adapter to work with a refurbished linksys WRT310N router. I am not getting true N speed probably because I am running mixed speed mode (b/g/n). My transfer speed is roughly about 2x faster than G connection but not the 5-10X I was hoping to get. Maybe I'll get better result when I switch to N only mode.

I was very skeptical about buying this for $11 but just couldn't overcome the price/value! It works absolutely fine on both Win7 and WinXP (the only OS options I tested). The user interface (for scanning for available networks) could be better, I guess, but certainly more than worth the price! The range seems to be as good or better than anything else I've used from Linksys, Netgear, or whatever and they wanted 4x or 5x the price (or more). I absolutely dig the fact that it doesn't stick way out of the PC like the other devices also.

worked OK out of the box (non-computer literate husband installed it with no problems) and then suddenly stopped. We know it's a problem with the WD HD TV live plus, tried several things with it and finally got it working again with a corded hookup. For the price I'm going to keep this to use once we finally hook up the wireless N router I already bought.
It's a little wide for the WD box, and not on the list of supported dongles. We haven't updated the firmware yet on the WD either.

Very good value; easy to install and works well. It's a bit slow but that could be due to the fact that it's connected to an older computer.
I didn't want to invest alot since this computer is only used occasionally.

The USB dongle comes with a mini CD with drivers for Windows 7/Vista/XP, MacOS X, and Linux. Installation was effortless in Windows XP and typical in Linux. Peformance is on a par with other 802.11N adapters in use in my single-band mixed g/N network, and it works at that "full speed" even a floor above the router. Without turning off all the 802.11g gadgets in the house (such as the Wii and mobile phones), I can't tell what the performance would be in N-only mode.

Cheap. Not as fast as the one with an antenna. Sturdy.,

Works fairly well for the price and the size can't be beat. If you don't move your laptop around much, you'll want to look into the model that has an attached antenna.

The listing says n/300 it seems to actually be n/150. Had I known that I would have ordered the smaller dongle which only claimed to be 150mbps.

This is the bang for the buck. I didn't expect it to be so smoooooth and so good in signal. I'm not sure if it does 300mbps but I know I play HD games online smoothly. Totally recommended for the price.

I got this to quickly get my home theater PC on my network. I plugged the adapter into a USB port on the back of the machine (metal case), which is about 40 feet away from my wireless access point, with 3-4 walls between. My network is wireless b/g mixed. The driver status app shows about 85% signal quality and my connection speed ranges from 18 to 24 mbps.I expect that if I switched to wireless n my signal quality would go down considerably but the increased bandwidth would probably more than offset this. I also think I could considerably improve the signal by moving the adapter so that the computer case isn't between it and the access point. I'm completely happy with this adapter, totally worth the price, extremely convenient. The drivers can be a little flaky if you sleep your PC. I'm trying with hibernation now, and so far that has worked perfectly. If you need the absolutely fastest speed or longest range possible, get an adapter with an external antenna. But if you can sacrifice a little on those, go for this one |
