5.0 out of 5 stars Improved signal
Adding the Directional panel antenna really helped increase signal on my system. I have the antenna mounted at the end of my home with the signal directed the length of the house. I get good signal 3 rooms away and can now use Verizion Wireless for my internet service. Previously there was no signal anywhere in the home. The whole system is expensive, but makes living...

3.0 out of 5 stars Improves reception, tho not a lot
This add-on definitely improves reception when used with the base unit, but unfortunately the improvement is not as dramatic as I had hoped. Previously, I had 1-2 bars with the base unit; I now have 2-3 bars. At least I can now make and receive phone calls in my home (which I could not, before). So that's a big plus.

This in conjunction with the outdoor directional antenna brought my small home from 1 bar to 5 bars.

The tiny antenna that came with the zboost YX510 really only worked in one room and did not penetrate through walls at all. This antenna provides good coverage through a wall. The big problem is that it is a directional antenna - which means it only works in the one direction it is pointed. I have to swivel it to point it at direction I am at. Still its nice to have 4 to 5 bars when the antenna is pointed at you. I point it at my study when I am at work there and then shift it towards the living room area when I am done with work.

I have a zBoost SOHO YX545. I tried and returned the zBoost YX027-DPC/PCS-CEL Dual Band Directional Indoor Base Unit Antenna Upgrade. It made little difference when in the line of sight and then when out of the line of sight it did nothing.

I would think that most people would be in a situation like me where you are better off using the stock omnidirectional antenna and then adding the zBoost YX039 Dual-Band Directional Outdoor Signal Antenna. THAT WORKS! The key was to *PROPERLY* install the zBoost YX039 Dual-Band Directional Outdoor Signal Antenna (all the tips on distance separation, e.g.) -- *using my own good quality cable* -- not the cheap one that came with the zBoost SOHO YX545.

I have a ranch with a basement with a roof line that is barely above street level. Without the zBoost SOHO YX545 base unit, when standing on my roof I can get 3 or 4 bars but inside my house it's 1 at best. When I supplemented the zBoost SOHO YX545 with the zBoost YX039 Dual-Band Directional Outdoor Signal Antenna installed in my attic and I put the base with the stock antenna in the center of my house I got 5 bars near the base! I read that I should not expect a signal boost only a repeat but I do think I'm getting a boost with this antenna.

I bought the zBoost SOHO YX545 after buying my house because the previous owner had an older model ZBoost unit and it was helping but really just in one room. I put the old unit in the basement and it complements my coverage. I have anywhere from 1 to 3 bars in the basement and 3 to 5 bars upstairs. I even have 2-bar coverage on my screened porch off the basement where my signal used to be a complete zero.
