We installed a YX510 PCS/CEL booster in our basement with the outside antenna 2 floors up in the rafters. we tried using the system without this optional celing antenna and then with it.

We found this antenna to boost our internal signal by about 1 bar on the phone plus extended the range another 20 feet in a large meeting room. This antenna however did not assist much in boosting the signal to travel through walls.

We found the increased signal substantial enough to be worth its purchase price.

Added antenna to a Wireless Extenders (1900 MHz YX500/PCS)cell phone booster for an inner office section of our building with lots of cubicle office furniture, it was hard to get a good signal with std ant...with this antenna it boosted by at least one signal bar up to 20 feet away, plus made for a cleaner installation.

I bought this to go with my WiEx cellphone extender. It turns out that the best and easiest place to mount an antenna was in the middle of the ceiling. This antenna works much better than the omni-directional whip antenna that came with the unit. So I'm very happy with the performance of the unit.

What I HATE about the unit is that the coax cable that connects to the base unit is only about 8-inches long. It's so short in fact that it doesn't even make it through to the next floor above it. Seriously... how difficult and how much would it cost to make the connecting cable 24-inches long instead of only 8-inches. At least with a 24" connecting cable you would have a chance to connect it to something. The ridiculously short 8" cable doesn't even make it through the ceiling far enough to reach the next floor.

The worst thing about the ridiculously short cable is that you won't be able to find a TNC-TNC extender cable anywhere locally. So be prepared to find and order one somewhere on the web. Now you're extending the cable and any RF engineers will tell you that there is more LOSS in a connector than there is in the cable itself. So by being forced to buy a 24" extension cable the connector/connection itself is adding the equivalent loss of about 50' of cable.

Nice antenna. Works fine. But C'mon... give me at least a little bit of cable to work with so that I don't have to buy an entire extension cable just to reach the base unit that's 12" away.

This is a replacement for the little antenae that is attached directly the amplifier. It is not a replacement for the long bar antenae that you can put outside. As the support people at zboost told me it is really just for esthetics and it does not boost the signal. We returned it.
