4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
I don't often review products, but feel I must set the record straight on this one. It looks to me like the people bashing this product are confusing the role of the booster with that of the antenna.

It works at my location where I am blocked by a ridge from having line-of-sight to the cell tower about 30 miles away. I'm using it with the Zboost YX510 which...

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for me...
I tried this twice (first with the stock antenna, then with the $150 upgraded one). 3 different install locations, in and out of the house. No matter what I did, I saw little to no improvement in signal.

I really, really wanted this to work. I was hoping to dump my landline. It seems to be very dependent on your native signal strength, your antenna placement,...

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised, August 19, 2009
This review is from: Wireless Extenders zBoost Dual Band Outdoor Signal Antenna for YX029 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I don't often review products, but feel I must set the record straight on this one. It looks to me like the people bashing this product are confusing the role of the booster with that of the antenna.

It works at my location where I am blocked by a ridge from having line-of-sight to the cell tower about 30 miles away. I'm using it with the Zboost YX510 which has a diagnostic mode to indicate input/output antenna isolation. I found that even though these antennas are directional, my first locations for the booster were getting interference. After shielding the area of the wall behind the outdoor antennas all is well. No interference indicated on the Zboost and it is boosting both bands as I expected.

I only drop a star because it is not clear from the pictures or directions how to aim the yagi. I had best results by aiming the aluminum beam at the tower. The panel antenna is a bit more obvious.

5.0 out of 5 stars Antennas = Great; zBoost Suckith, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Wireless Extenders zBoost Dual Band Outdoor Signal Antenna for YX029 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I purchased the zBoost PCS 510 because I could not get more than 1-2 bars on the roof of my mountain home with a cell site 1 mile away. When the zBoost didn't work they recommended that I also buy the yagi and panel antenna. The zBoost still didn't work. Even worse, the technical support at Wi-Ex is almost non-existant. It is one guy answering emails and telephones are not answered or messages returned.

As an extra class amateur radio operator I know a thing or two about radio. I purchased the antenna pigtail for my Treo 700wx and plugged it directly into the cable connected to the PCS panel antenna. 5 bars. No zBoost needed. So... the antennas are fine but avoid Wi-Ex.

Since that time I have purchased a Wilson cellular repeater that worked immediately to give me 5 bars, but not reliably. It also did not give me 2500 square feet of coverage that actually means a 12 foot circle to these guys. Low and behold, Sprint came out with an Airave that gives me 6 bars of coverage anywhere in my home.

You decide.

I really, really wanted this to work. I was hoping to dump my landline. It seems to be very dependent on your native signal strength, your antenna placement, and your proximity to a nearby tower.

Some folks have had great success. I suppose that I'd recommend trying it, but keep the packaging in order and be prepared to exercise Amazon's wonderful return policy should it work for you as it did for me.

Prior to purchasing the antenna I was dealing with a very slight increase in signal with the included omnidirectional antenna. After installing this antenna I now get 5 bars throughout most of the house and even in the most remote area of the house I get a minimum of 3 bars with 3G signal while before I had a room in the house that I got no signal at all. Definately worth the time and money if you are in a far fringe area.

the yx-029 dual band outdoor antenna with z-boost yx-510 cell phone signal booster have solved my problem of very weak to no signal inside and outside of my mobile home. Pay attention to the installation instructions... separation and direction... The key for me was getting height on the antenna...10 ft. above the roof. I now can walk anywhere in the house with the cell phone and I can now use my laptop with aircard which I couldn't use before.

I bought the Zboost PCS/CEL unit due to low cell signal inside my house. I was not able to send or receive calls while at home. I mounted the stock antenna outside and received a marginal upgrade in signal. I decided to go ahead and spend the money on the YX029. Great move. I pointed the antenna at the nearest cell tower (10 miles away). Now I am always carrying 3 to 4 bars at all times. Signal is great. Calling is great. I probably have the best cell reception in a 5 mile radius. Great product.

Works great for me but just remember you just cant throw the antenna anywhere. I actually went up on my roof with a signal finder and found the best strogest spot to place the antenna. if you dont have a singnal outside to bring in for the unit to reepeat you wont have much success. The dual band antenna works great I get amout 1.5 meg download with the upgraded antenna which i also use with my 3g verizon aircard..

I bought the wireless zboost dual band because of the area I live. I had previously bought the booster but was not receiving very good signal. I added the dual band antenna and have been very pleased with the signal so far.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing! Weak signal., July 14, 2009
This review is from: Wireless Extenders zBoost Dual Band Outdoor Signal Antenna for YX029 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Disappointing! In my house 1 mile from Verizon cell tower I get 2 bars without zBoost. Installed zBoost YX500/510 CEL antennae on the roof. Three feet away from the base unit I get 4 bars. Five feet away, 3 bars. Ten feet away line of sight unobstructed view, 2 bars. Forget about covering the house.
