About the Author
Dimitrios Katsaros received his undergraduate degree in computer science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 1997. He was born in Thetidio-Farsala, Greece in 1974. He spent a year (July 1997-June 1998) as a visiting researcher at the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of L'Aquila, Italy. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the Computer Science Department of Aristotle University and is expected to acquire his PhD degree in January 2004. He is the co-author of more than 10 articles in international journals and conferences. His research interests include Web databases, semistructured data and mobile data management.

Dr. Alexandros Nanopoulos received his undergraduate degree in computer science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 1996 and obtained his PhD ("Techniques for Non-Relational Data Mining") from the same institute (February 2003). Dr. Nanopoulos was born in Craiova, Romania, in 1974. He is the co-author of more than 20 articles in international journals and conferences, also co-author of the monograph "Advanced Signature Techniques for Multimedia and Web Applications". His research interests are spatial and Web mining, integration of data mining with DBMSs, and spatial database indexing.

Dr. Yannis Manolopoulos is a professor, Department of Informatics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received a B. Eng (1981) in Electrical Eng. and a PhD (1986) in Computer Eng., both from the Aristotle Univ. of Thessaloniki. He has been with the Department of Computer Science of the Univ. of Toronto, the Department of Computer Science of the Univ. of Maryland at College Park and the University of Cyprus. He has published over 130 papers in refereed scientific journals and conference proceedings. He is co-author of a book on "Advanced Database Indexing" and "Advanced Signature Indexing for Multimedia and Web Applications" by Kluwer. He is also author of two textbooks on Data Structures and File Structures, which are recommended in the vast majority of the computer science/engineering departments in Greece. He served/serves as PC Co-chair of the 8th Panhellenic Conference in Informatics (2001), the 6th ADBIS Conference (2002) the 5th WDAS Workshop (2003), the 8th SS! TD Symposium (2003) and the 1st Balkan Conference in Informatics (2003). Also, currently he is Vice-chairman of the Greek Computer Society. His research interests include access methods and query processing for databases, data mining, and performance evaluation of storage subsystems.
