Too Many Bugs - Frustrating to Play,
By
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard and Software Bundle for Wii (Accessory)
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME FOR THE WII - IT IS BROKEN OUT OF THE BOX AND HARMONIX/EA/NINTENDO ARE CURRENTLY DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT.For me, this is a family game. We were so excited to be adding a keyboard and a lot of new music to our collction. We got it as a family gift for Christmas. From the very beginning it was frustrating. The first thing we noticed was that the Bass (kick) drum is out of sync. Try all you want with various calibration methods and it will never be there. Then we noticed the vocal problems. The vocals don't register accurately and it is impossible to go into overdrive vocally. Then it gave us the high pitched screeeeeach over the speakers. Then it crashed after a song. It is very frustrating to play and we usually just give up and go back to RB2 or GH:5 Here is a link discussing on the problems on the RockBand.com forum: [...](Amazon won't allow an outside link so Do a search for "Confirmed and condensed List of RB3 bugs for HMX to patch on WII") 1. Bass pedal out of sync no matter what you do to calibrate 2. Dreamscapes sometimes appear in all of the songs you play in a setlist, or randomly for no reason, even when not on All instrument mode. 3. High pitched noises while starting some songs with the mics connected, this wont go away unless you go back to the song listing. This will also cause the mics to get stuck with some kind of feedback and become unresponding untill you wait some time or disconnect them (as if the buzz is still reverberating for some time) 4. Random Freezes while finishing a song (score screens), making setlists, connecting to the music store. Sometimes the loading icon will remain and you have to reset the console, sometimes the music will just stutter and after some time you are able to continue. 5. Shaky arrow on vocals, it goes all over the place even when it is registering your voice kinda ok (not perfectly like it did on RB though) 6. Overdrive not activating when playing with a little of high volume 7. Some talkies in the songs dont register at all, maybe it has something to do with number 6 8. You cant hear yourself at all through the speakers when singing, only if you lower the original track to a minimum and still your voice comes out strange or really low or distorted (maybe it has something to do with mic sensitivity once again) 9. Pedal hooked up to Keyboard does not trigger Overdrive (I believe this is a universal issue across all platforms) 10. During the load screen between songs in a setlist, the Wii cut off all power/connections to the USB ports (i.e., all accessories attached quit working & the status lights on my USB hub indicated no connection). This led to having to press RESET to do anything else, as even activating the Wii Remote wasn't helpful since the other instruments couldn't "drop out." 11. When the game decides to do Dreamscapes instead of venues, characters do not show at all, not one of them. Therefore, since while playing online the game always chooses Dreamscapes, we cant see other ppl characters. 12. Issue: vocal volume (noted already) example here: [...] -- that has the track vocals turned all the way down and my mic turned all the way up. It's a direct cap so that's what is getting sent to the sound system. The band sounds just fine, the vocals are quiet as a mouse. In the video you also can see the jumpy vocal cursor issue. 13. Issue: unreliable taps. I think in some cases it is due to song timing slightly speeding up or slowing down but I am regularly missing taps on certain songs (this is not normal). I've switched to using the WiiMote because using the mic is an invitation to fail. 14. Breakneck Speed always disabled in Practice Mode 15. Some character models sometimes break during the performance, showing strange polygons out of their arms or instruments, this goes on to the cutscenes if you dont log out and re-login (I guess it reloads the character models) A discussion of these and other issues can be found at the rockband forum: [...](Amazon won't allow an outside link so Do a search for "Confirmed and condensed List of RB3 bugs for HMX to patch on WII")

We purchased the Rock Band 3 bundle for the Wii system for our granddaughter and she is very happy with this gift. I ordered this from Amazon because we could not find the bundled package (Software package) in some of the stores we visited. The package was delivered in the time frame stated by Amazon and it was in excellent condition when it arrived.

We've been having so much fun with this and all the other instruments that go with the wii rock band group. My 7 yr. old and his friends have been playing since Christmas.

This is a great job of improving upon an already awesome game. The revamped quickplay mode makes this game ideal for party situations. You can drop out or join in on an instrument as you see fit, change difficulties, turn on no-fail mode, and a bunch of helpful things, all in the middle of a set list! That was the most important aspect that needed upgrade from Rock Band 2.The career mode is improved, divided into a set of 'road challenges' that go through different geographical scenes. Its much shorter than RB2, but they have eliminated that annoying aspect of playing the same song you dont want to play over and over. In RB3, you usually get a choice between a couple random time-oriented set lists and a custom one. Its an excellent way to expose you to all of the music in the game, without making you play stuff you don't want to all the time. The new instrument, keyboard, is a good addition. It will take time to see if it is supported enough through the music, but its challenging and fun to play. The graphics and presentation are also upgraded; nice additions. The setlist is great, and hopefully you are buying this for Xbox, because the number of downloadable songs on Xbox Live is INSANE! ROCK.

My husband and I pre-ordered this keyboard...when it was shipped to us we allowed ourselves 15 min. of play time. Then it was put back in the box for three months until Santa came. I can tell you that it was the first time in a LONG time that we were acting like little kids as Christmas got near. We couldn't wait to have Christmas over and kick the kids out of the house so we could jam all night. We are 49 and 55 years of age. My husband LOVES it. We do hope that they come out with some new music as we ran through the first game in no time. I do wish that the makers of the music would produce some tracks that us older folks get into. This is not JUST for the young head bangers. Elvis would be awesome.

We are really enjoying this game--it is our first music game for the Wii. The keyboard is fun but you should get a microphone as soon as possible because that makes it even more fun. My 9-year-old daughter loves it and having her play and sing Blondie's "Heart of Glass" and Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" is a hoot. You will need an SD card to download the newer pop songs, which I also recommend getting. I wish there were more songs by female bands and artists that come with the game because my daughter prefers them. Hours of fun, we are looking forward to getting more instruments.

Rock band is enjoyed by our family and friends. Much fun if you don't let it frustrate you if you are challenged with it. Some of us can do it well, others not so well but it is loads of fun.notes- 1. Rock band 1 does not accept the keyboard and I believe that is true for rock band two although we don't own 2. 2. We already had a guitar from "guitar hero" that I had heard would work on rock band. It works for Rock band 3, but not for 1, so we will need to get a "rock band" guitar to use with edition 1 (and maybe 2 if we add that later?) I had purchased the pieces seperately since I had hoped to be able to use the existing guitar. 3. be aware there are wired and wireless instruments. we have a wireless keyboard and guitar, but the drums and mic are wired. Although the wires are 10-15 feet you may have to move some furniture in larger rooms. We use a counter height stool for the drums and it works well. 4. last one, the drums are somewhat loud which usually means you need to have the tv volume up to hear the rest of what is going on. So you want to have a seperate room to get away if not playing or join in.
