5.0 out of 5 stars Great WIFI!!!!!!!
I bought this as an alternative to the expensive Microsft wifi adapter for the Xbox 360. I purchased it in February and have been using it ever since with no problems what so ever. The initial set up was little confusing but I was able to figure it out and has been working excellent since. For anyone looking for an alternative wifi adapter for you Xbox 360, PSP and others...

The initial set up was little confusing but I was able to figure it out and has been working excellent since. For anyone looking for an alternative wifi adapter for you Xbox 360, PSP and others this is the way to go. I like the fact that this is Draft n with 150Mbps can be used an access point or router as well. This size is so small and compact that it is perfect for anyone who is traveling. I do a little bit of traveling and am considering purchasing another one. I was considering giving it 4 stars because of the interface and set up but have to give it a 5 because it works so well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing router / AP / bridge / repeater for the price!, November 2, 2009

I have always use Linksys before I run across this by accident, and for $32 this is a great little gem for all of your travel wireless needs. This device can function as a router, an access point, a wireless bridge back to wire connection, or as a signal repeater. It is about 2/3 the size of the iPod classic, and the AC adapter supports both 110/240 and it is about 1 x 1.5 inches. I found that the AP mode (physical switch on the side) is very helpful to get around some of the network issue, especially if your connection normally does not allow multiple wireless access. Once slight problem is that you cannot access your router settings when it is in AP mode, but this is an minor issue as you can always switch back to router mode for configurations.

My bottom line is that the Planex MZK-MF150 is excellent for travel and / or deployment. Here is the link to its online manual:

After 8 days of waiting. The tiny cute box finally arrived in my mail box. I was too excited to try it out since I was eager to have a device like this for my traveling. I travel a lot for my own business and I need to use my laptop and Vonage at the same time at the hotel room. This device,if it works, will get great companion to me. However, more excitement, more disappointment.

I have been spending hours trying to make the router work but it just did not work at all. Though I need this route to have static IP, it is supposedly work like DHCP. I spend 2 hours trying to make it work but could not make it work.

Then, I think it will be still cool if it works as access point. I switch it to AP mode and glade to know it is able to pint the DLink router IP. I try to access some web site and I found it is very slow for some reason. Then I try to ping some web site IP address and I found at least 50% of the package drops. That explains why AP make the web browsing so slow since packages get lost.

I keep trying to contact the phone number on the menu to get support, but it keeps saying the phone number is busy. I don't even know if the phone is still on service or not though it is regular business at their location.

I finally give it up and next I will request an RMA number to return.

3.0 out of 5 stars its ok, February 18, 2011

Well, its ok for the money. The directions that come with it are worthless and dont explain anything. The box shows it being used with an Xbox but the directions make no mention of it. Also the add on Amazon says it is wireless N compatable but the box and directions only mention B and G. Also software doesnt work with windows 7 very well. Got it working but only after using WPS. Probably would not recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad setup as Access Point, April 3, 2010

I have setup several routers and access points before, and consider myself considerably knowledgeable about technology.I purchased this when it was only $30 as an alternative to the Microsoft wireless adapter for my xbox 360. I didn't have especially high hopes because of the price, but I thought it would work. The documentation and all wording was obviously done by non-english speakers. It was straightforward, and easy enough to setup as a router, because I had to do this first. However when I tried to setup as a converter so I could use it for my xbox that was where my troubles began. To setup as a converter, you have to move the switch to converter mode, unplug and replugin the adapter and start the setup again. In the software it would start setting it up, and then it became a total crapshoot to see if it worked. 95% of the time it would say connection interrupted. When it didn't i could finally access the web-based setup page, for some reason I couldn't unless it gave me the link. Out of three times getting to the setup page I could only get it to connect to the internet once, and then it was terribly laggy, even on a 100mbps wireless N network.

I bought one of these a while ago specifically because the Microsoft wifi adapter for my Xbox was ridiculously expensive. It took me multiple tries to get the unit working correctly because of unclear documentation and a clunky interface. HOWEVER, once working, it has been great.

I've had it running on the Xbox for almost a year now, and it has not had a single problem. I haven't had to reboot it or change any settings. If it weren't for the fact that it's white and my Xbox is black, I probably would have forgotten it's even there.

We are using the Xbox for movies and gaming every day, so this little unit is getting regular hard use, but it never misses a beat and data transfer is seamless.

I actually came back to this page to buy a second one to use for traveling and work. I'll admit that I'm dreading the setup (because it's been so long since I even looked at the configuration) but I know that once I get it up and running it will do everything I need.

I wanted this for use as a converter and once setup, it did exactly what I wanted. The documentation on the included CD was very helpful (a little bit if Engrish but still understandable). Also, the description of how to find the instructions was incorrect. If you follow the steps closely I think you will be successful in setting up the device for whatever use you have in mind. When you log onto the device it provides a lot of data for the power user. I am not a power user but I do find it comforting to know the information is there.

This going to be used with my Hauppauge PVR in a room that does not have wired LAN connection.

I would give it five stars if it weren't for the documentation.

1.0 out of 5 stars waste of money, May 26, 2010
This review is from: PLANEX Wireless-N Router & Access Point -Multi-Function Wireless Pocket Router/WiFi AP/Wireless Converter 3 in1 Supports Nintendo DS/DSi/Wii, Sony PSP/PS3/Xbox360 with Three mode switches; WiFi Router/Access Point/Converter with Mutli SSID support and 2 wire ports EN, Fast EN, IEEE 802.11n Internet Router AP MZK-MF150 Designed in Japan (Personal Computers)
I agreed with J. Gould and Y. Chen's comments.

Most of the time, products from Japan are quite good. But I have to say, definitely not true for routers. I usually get routers from D-Link or Linksys. But my friends and family like to get routers from other vendors like Netgear (poor support), Buffalo and now Planex! That shouldnt be a problem if I dont have to help them configure those poorly designed products. I am not a network administrator, but my network knowledge is sufficient to setup my own NAS, port forwarding, IP cam, etc

You can use this piece of crap as a pure router (at home) but I suggest NOT to travel with it, you will be so mad that you will probably leave it in the hotel. Why would a vendor set the default IP of a travel AP / router to 192.168.1.x? So that it will conflict with most of the hotels' IP? Even if you change the default, the minute you power off the AP / router and power on again, the configuration will return to the default! And you cannot clone MAC address, nowadays, it is hard to find router which does not allow cloning.

For travel AP, I highly recommend D-Link DWL-G730AP.

I used to have Linksys' travel AP but it comes with a built-in transformer and the component was overheated and broken within 1 year (same problem with airport express). The product is discontinued due to this issue. Otherwise, it is a good product too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Easy!!!, April 27, 2010
This review is from: PLANEX Wireless-N Router & Access Point -Multi-Function Wireless Pocket Router/WiFi AP/Wireless Converter 3 in1 Supports Nintendo DS/DSi/Wii, Sony PSP/PS3/Xbox360 with Three mode switches; WiFi Router/Access Point/Converter with Mutli SSID support and 2 wire ports EN, Fast EN, IEEE 802.11n Internet Router AP MZK-MF150 Designed in Japan (Personal Computers)
This should be a standard accessory for frequent travelers.

I have been using it as AP during my business trips to get wireless internet connection in hotel rooms for 2 months now. Never lost a connection, not even once. Setup was simple and easy. I regret I didn't get it much much earlier.

I was considering buying an Apple AirPort Express, but the salesman at the store recommended this. I am so glad he did.

Work as expected, very small and nice feature to have functionality as Router or Access Point.

The wireless security need more fine tuning as it is not straightforward to use just simple WEP key security.
