This is the Real Deal, February 19, 2008
This review is from: Wireless Networking: Know It All (Newnes Know It All) (Paperback)
As the Chief Scientist at Connect802 Corporation I demand a technical validation for design work our RF engineering team produces. It's not enough to have someone say, "Well, that's the industry best-practice for such-and-such." We need to have solid metrics derived from experimental testing to hold up against the various formulae and calculations that go into a commercial-grade Wi-Fi, WiMax and (soon) 802.20 system. This book lays it all out - from the underlying formulae for electromagnetic signal propagation through to practical testing for signal reflection, multipath fading, and attenuation effects, and on to the integration of the underying physics with a practical design. Anyone who has moved beyond 802.11 packet level behavior, Fresnel zone and Free Space Path Loss, and who uses RF predictive CAD modeling software needs to have this book as a ready reference for the real *meat* in the wireless LAN design world. This is not a book for the beginning wireless LAN designer - it's for the RF engineer who needs the Real Deal.
