Decent mouse. A little small, but it's designed for that. The middle mouse button is a pain to click - you have to press fairly hard, but not too hard, or the click won't register. Very annoying.

I bought this to utilize my laptop's BlueTooth functionality while keeping my sparse (2) USB ports free. The unit does ship with a USB based BlueTooth receiver, but thankfully is not dependant upon it. Getting it to pair without its receiver was a tad tricky, but once paired it now connects every time. Feature set is outstanding, as you can control music, DVD, and volume from a distance. The laser works nicely. As this is my personal laptop I haven't used it in a presentation capacity - however it is most entertaining with the cat.

I nixed a star for one reason (and this may be a MS Vista "feature") the magnifier works well, but whenever I activate it my screen blanks for a sec. and then returns with the magnification rectangle - My other MS mouse doesn't do this. Note: This feature was a deciding factor in staying with the Microsoft brand.

As to size (I have fairly large hands) I would say it's just shy of a perfect fit. While it is larger than my wife's miniscule Logitech VX Nano (thankfully) it could be a bigger.

Overall - recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000, September 13, 2009

So far I really like this mouse. I haven't used it in a presenter capacity, but when I tested it, it seemed to be great. It's extremely comfortable to use as a regular mouse, and it has great sensitivity and connection, as compared to other wireless mouses I have used in the past. The bluetooth connection is fantastic and easy to setup. This mouse does everything it claims without any problems!!! A great buy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Good Mouse!!!, December 31, 2009

This is a easy to setup mouse from Microsoft. It comes with a optional bluetooth adapter which you can hook it to one of your USB ports in case your PC doesn't have in built bluetooth. The installation was a breeze on Vista/XP since they had inbuilt drivers for it.

The mouse starts working automatically if used with the bundled adapter. Otherwise you need to pair the mouse manually. I tried using this mouse on Linux(Ubuntu 9.04). But doesn't seem to work on the first go. Need to do some tinkering to get it work!!!

To use the presentation controls and the volume button located below the mouse you need to do the following:
1) Use the button in the middle (the one behind the scroll) to freeze the regular buttons.
2) Install the bundled software and it works.

I like the built in laser beam which I can use for presenting a PPT. The mouse has 3 different colors on it(Black, Silver and Dark Gray). So it would match the color of most of the laptops (Just in case you are specific about this). It also comes with a very cute looking carry case and a hand strap.

Suggested Products to buy along with this : Cirago Bluetooth BTA3210 v2.1 EDR Class 2 Micro Bluetooth Adapter. Use this bluetooth adapter just in case you want a very small bluetooth adapter that totally hides itself when you plug into the USB port!!!

Edit: after using this for a few weeks, I'm rather disappointing. The Intellimouse software doesn't let you remap the tilt functionality of the wheel, and the middle mouse button click is pretty much completely useless - it works less than 1/2 the time you press it. You have to press it *just right* to get it to work, and it's incredibly annoying. I wouldn't buy this mouse if I had to do it all over again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, Handy, Elegant, Recommended for all, February 21, 2010
This review is from: Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 (Accessory)
Hi,

It's almost perfect in:
-Size: suitable for carrying with laptop.
-Quality: good finishing.
-Functions:a good customize buttons (the 4 buttons and the scroll) by using its software (intellipoint v.7).
-Carrying plastic cover hold both mouse and dongle.

Some negatives feedbacks:

-position of additional buttons are inappropriate.
-inability to pair with laptop blue-tooth ... i.e. you should use provided blue-tooth dongle.

I love this mouse.

This presenter mouse is a very good mouse. It is well made and has many features on it. These features allow you to control many different functions on the computer without a lot of unnecessary button presses. The one drawback I have with this mouse is it's size. It is very small, and if you have large hands (like I do) this will cause some problems. Also, This mouse can connect via a bluetooth dongle. Overall a great mouse!

I use this mouse quite often. It is sensitive so you do not need to move your hand a lot. I also like the presentation mode, though you need to be aware to switch between mouse mode and presentation mode.
The only minus I could find is the location of the button that switches between mouse mode and presentation mode. When in presentation mode and you hold the mouse up side down, there is a good chance that you will press the button that moves between the modes by accident and get to mouse mode.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could have been better, but I like it so far., October 20, 2011

After doing lot of research I narrowed down to this mouse with the following criteria I had.

1. It should have more than 3 buttons. The forth button on the mac would be used for expose.
2. It should not be notebook mouse, i.e. small and tiny.
3. It should be wireless and use Bluetooth and not a usb adapter, because there are only 2 usb ports on mac pro. So I can't block one perceptually.

Most of the good wireless mice are not Bluetooth or they were small ins size.

There is a another Microsoft mouse, I think 5000 series something. But I already used that one so did not want to buy the same mouse again.

This mouse is a Bluetooth wireless mouse with Bluetooth dongle for people who do not have Bluetooth on their computer. But it works well without the dongle on my mac.

Setup was fast and easy, just had to discover it on the mac and it is connected. Reconnection so far has not been so bad.

The scroll wheel is smooth it does not give a clicking feel when you scroll. But manytimes, for whatever reason the scroll does not work as expected. Then I have to press the scroll wheel a bit and then scroll for the scrolling to work. This is reason why I knocked off 2 stars from this product.

The middle button with the scrollwheel is bit hard to press.

So far I have used on wood, glass and transparent plastic surface, it seems to work well most of the time but sometimes does not do what you want to do. Not sure if this is the problem of the mouse or the computer was too busy to track the mouse properly.

The presenter part of the mouse is not so useful for me, except for the the laser pointer that I point at stuff for fun.

Another thing I like about this product is the mouse case they give. Which is useful if you are carrying the mouse in the bag all the time. This prevents damage to the mouse due to pressured button press while in the bag.

Finally it is the mouse that has to perform. It is not the best but ok.

I have used this product for quite a long time. I'm sure this review is far too late to help anyone, but here it is anway.

This was never a very good mouse. It has a large number of bells and whistles but they never quite work right.

- The battery life is very poor. It lasts about 3-6 weeks and those weeks come up quick when you only use the mouse occasionally.
- The bluetooth connection range is very poor which is very frustrating during presentations.
- The presentation buttons are slow to respond or often unresponsive depending on the application.
- The surface tracking is very poor. The list of surfaces that it does work on is shorter then the ones it doesn't.
- The panel where the batteries are stored broke very easily.

I just use this thing as a backup mouse now. Big waste of money.
