4.0 out of 5 stars Sample code examples tough to use
A good introduction to j2me, but the links to download the code samples don't work, they go to an under construction apge, and no one will reply to emails to say when they will be available.

1.0 out of 5 stars It's a poorly written book.
Finally I learn this hard lesson: One who knows something DOES NOT necessarily know how to teach it.

I was attracted by the impressive background of the author, and it's part of SUN's Java series. But I am stunned by the poor quality of the book as a teach-yourself material. Come on, Mr. Piroumian, of course you know this is a book for Java learners, not a RFC, or API...

Finally I learn this hard lesson: One who knows something DOES NOT necessarily know how to teach it.

I was attracted by the impressive background of the author, and it's part of SUN's Java series. But I am stunned by the poor quality of the book as a teach-yourself material. Come on, Mr. Piroumian, of course you know this is a book for Java learners, not a RFC, or API specification. But it reads like the latter.

I got my Java Programmer Certificate two years ago and consider myself an experienced Java programmer. But, I couldn't follow the book. It's that a hard and boring read. Those examples are dry, non-intuitive and useless in real world. After finishing the book, I still don't know how to do some quite simple tasks.

Very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Tutorial on Wireless J2ME, November 27, 2002

I found this book to be an excellent introduction to J2ME wireless development. The author's clear and consise writing style gets the reader up to speed almost immediately with a minimal degree of effort. The fine examples and graphical illustrations couples nicely with the text. I especially found the chapter on Internationalization particularly useful. This is a good book for the beginning wireless developer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Average, June 1, 2002

I didn't find this book very helpful. What it refers to as "advanced topics" such as persistent storage and networking are basic concepts that aren't explained very clearly. Seems put together too quickly with only average coverage of j2me.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a good book!, May 29, 2002

I really loved the organization of the book, and the logical
flow of ideas. And the book seems to cover some topics
that I couldn't find in other J2ME books such as application
provisioning and system architecture. The chapter on
internationalization is fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for wireless J2ME programming!, May 19, 2002

One thing is certain. This author can write! His explanations
are lucid and organized. And his writing style is so easy to follow.

Like he says, his examples demonstrate the concepts that he
presents in the chapters. I really feel that I now understand
HOW to use J2ME the RIGHT WAY.

I like this book better than any of the others that I bought.
It's obvious that this author knows this space well.

If you're getting a J2ME book, get this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wireless J2ME Platform Programming, May 14, 2002

This book is an EXCELLENT treatment of the J2ME subject.
Just like the author says, it takes a tutorial style that
is marvelously easy to follow and understand.

And, it's appropriate for beginners and advanced developers
alike. You can tell that the author is actually experienced
in doing architecture, development and coding.

Also, I noticed he talks about a few subjects that I have
not seen in the other J2ME books: Java provisioning systems,
wireless Internet architectures, and internationalization.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who is doing anything
with J2ME or Java in the wireless space.

I found the book to be a good book on J2ME.

I met the author while working for a big company.
I thought he was a great person and a good looking man.

I found the book to be an excellent book on not just J2ME, but
a great introduction to the world of wireless communication
