5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine - one or two minor problems (beware of the case)
This device works as it should. It feels comfortable in the hand. The three buttons are different sizes (which helps differentiate them) and the laser button has a raised "R" on it (I have no idea what it might stand for, but it has a distinctive feel which helps you know that your thumb is on the laser button).

My biggest complaint is that the USB receiver...

I am teaching a class this summer using PowerPoint for the first time. Wanting to give a remote a try, I purchased this one as the price was good and it had just the features I would need. While I like the design and the carrying case, there have been several times that the advance key has stuck and the slides run by very fast and then I have to back track to where I was. This never happened when I used the laptop's Page Down key for my presentations and has now happened about six times in the past four weeks, so I wouldn't call it a fluke. So now I've ordered a different remote and will hopefully no longer have this problem.

This device works as it should. It feels comfortable in the hand. The three buttons are different sizes (which helps differentiate them) and the laser button has a raised "R" on it (I have no idea what it might stand for, but it has a distinctive feel which helps you know that your thumb is on the laser button).

My biggest complaint is that the USB receiver is rather thick. I have a Micro$oft USB mouse with a slender receiver. The receiver for the presenter "crowds" the mouse receiver, actually pushing on it (and deflecting it) a bit. That can't be good for the motherboard-mounted USB socket, but hopefully it is not enough to cause problems (I doubt it will).

It comes with a fairly sturdy hard-side vinyl carrying case with a fabric zippered closure. Maybe that's what the "And More" in the product description refers to.

WARNING about the case: If you put the pointer in "flat" (with the buttons facing up) then the case will press against the laser button if it is put under a modest amount of crush pressure (such as inside a laptop bag with a bunch of other stuff crammed in). Your laser could be activated for hours (completely unknown to you, since you can't see it because it's inside the case). This will obviously kill your battery (and this is probably the cause of battery-life complaints that other reviewers have mentioned). Store the pointer with the buttons facing sideways to avoid this problem.

The battery cover is difficult to remove. FWIW, it uses a type 23A battery (included). I was hoping it might use a more readily available AAA, but it does not. But I would rather it use a 23A (often used in cameras) than little button batteries.

It's a great value for the price - which is why I gave it a full five stars despite the shortcomings of the receiver thickness and the button-pressing case.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dead Battery, October 23, 2009

I used this product for one 20 min presentation and when I went to use it the second time, the battery was dead already. I went to replace the battery and it turns out it takes a special 23A 12V battery. I would take this into consideration when purchasing! When the battery is not dead, the pointer is great! It has easy connectivity with my computer, just plug and play, and has great range. The laser pointer button and up and down buttons are easy to use and logical while making a presentation. (I did not have any troubles with pushing the wrong buttons!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but unusable, September 10, 2009

This came in an oval-shaped hard plastic travel case. The case was so badly made that it could never be opened by hand, I had to use tools on it. I discarded the case.

On the second day of using the pointer it jammed, so my whole presentation flew by to the last page and I couldn't even page back until I removed the usb receiver.

This is the second one of these remotes I have owned. The first also jammed in the same way many times. Other users have had the same experience.

So although this is very cheap, and the basic design would be good if it worked, it doesn't work and I think nobody should buy one. I have now purchased a Targus Stow-n-go presenter, which cost much more but is pretty cool (it stows in the card slot of my laptop) and has excellent reviews.

The Superpointer SP-100 is not workable. It does not have a feature to bland the screen (every remote slide advancer/pointer I've every used in the past has that feature) and I never got the SP-100 to work at all. It came without a battery and it turns out that there are not instructions on what battery to use--not on the box and not in the instruction bookelt. I purchased a 2N battery becasue it looked like it would fit in teh battery compartment--but it didn't! The item is very cheap but it should at least work. It was not worth returning, and my advice is never every purchase this device or any made by the same compnay!

4.0 out of 5 stars RF Wireless Laser Pointer, January 4, 2007

This device is a good value. I have seen other remote presentation devices which perform the same function for 3x the price of this one. It is slim and feels natural in your hand.

My only complaint is that it very easy to confuse the "back" button with the "laser" (labeled 'R' - not sure why) button when you are flustered in the middle of a presentation. Also, a friend who borrowed this device was unable to use it with her Mac.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great functionality, crappy battery life!, February 11, 2010

Pros: This pointer is streamlined and easy for any "pointy haired boss" to use! Priced under $15 it's a bargain.

Cons: Terrible batterly life! The second presentation we used this for the batter started to fail. That's less than 2 hours of actual use for ppt page flipping and occasional laser pointer. It's also got a small 13V battery, so when the pointer craps out you can't just go the easy route with AAA battery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Great, November 6, 2006
This review is from: RF Wireless Laser Pointer Presentation Device (Silver Finish) With Page Up/Down Presentation Function and More! (Electronics)
This is a great tool that makes presentation easy and fun!!. I recently had this pack and it works great!! I can simply load my presentations on the screen and step away from my laptop in business meetings and classes I am taking. I can move up and down to different slides and point to any part of the slide via the laser pointer. Besides it is very slick and trendy!!

Cannot be used to control PowerPoint presentation as the seller claimed. Tried with Windows XP and Vista. Tried on multiple laptops. The product box had no contact company address nor phone number (as if this product were made in a basement somewhere in China). I don't recommend buying this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but don't use if your presentation is important., July 7, 2009
This review is from: RF Wireless Laser Pointer Presentation Device (Silver Finish) With Page Up/Down Presentation Function and More! (Electronics)
I loved the price, the look, the feel, etc.
But, I was presenting to a 3-hour workshop that would be video-taped and then shown on the web. For a couple of days before the presentation, I practiced (my slides had several animation components -- bullets would appear then disappear, etc.) Nearly every time that I practiced, at some point during the presentation, the slides would zoom through about 25 clicks and then I would need to back-track. Also, I would need to press the advance button several times sometime to get it to work. Maybe I need more practice, but it was just something I couldn't take a chance on for the web presentation. I'll use it in low-risk situations, like class... but not for anything terribly important (that's not to say that class is not important -- but giving my own students a chance to laugh at my ineptness with technology can actually be beneficial).
