It holds the phone so it gets 1/2 star for that. The minus 4 1/2 is because you can't hear the phone RING in this holder. I can hear my phone ring in the next room without the holder. It is so muted in this thing, that on my belt I cannot hear it in normal conversation. Both front and back are solid and the sides are heavy elastic. Very well made and sturdy enough to protect your phone......but you need to hear it ring.
