4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product for the Money
I purchased two of these and couldn't be happier. For the money, I couldn't ask for more. The video quality is quite good. It is nice to be able to tilt and pan the units remotely. If I have any criticism it comes in two areas. First, the setup isn't easy. If you hard wire it, you will have to connect a laptop to it through a switch and manually set the IP range for...

I have years of experience with IP cameras, and I use many, but decided to switch over to planex because of the features and very reasonable pricing, I ordered this camera and attempted to set it up with the set up software, no luck. The default IP address that these use will conflict with a modem IP, the setup software should be able to overcome this, but doesnt. also you should be able to plug it in and fix it from a PC, but will not work, Now customer support is really a joke, you call this number in California, leave your info on an "answering machine" and you will get a call back, sometime, then describe your problem to their staff of 1 who tells you to send an email, then in about 2 or 3 days you get an answer that barely relates to your problem, what do I do next, repeat all that?? This will go back in the box. I had high hopes but I end up disappointed.

I purchased two of these and couldn't be happier. For the money, I couldn't ask for more. The video quality is quite good. It is nice to be able to tilt and pan the units remotely. If I have any criticism it comes in two areas. First, the setup isn't easy. If you hard wire it, you will have to connect a laptop to it through a switch and manually set the IP range for your network adapter. If you do that, you will gain access to the unit and can then reconfigure it to be compatible with your network. I am a retired IT consultant so it wasn't difficult for me to figure out. It might be more complicated for others.

The second issue is that the camera features a x Digital zoom. It works well. The problem is that the software they provide to monitor the cameras doesn't support the zoom feature. To use the zoom, you have to access the camera through Internet Explorer or another browser. It can be done, but it is a little bit awkward. Since I rarely use the zoom, it really isn't a big issue for me.

Overall, I lvoe them and will purchase more.

NOTE: Planex has changed the command set in their newer model cameras. You will not be able to mix the old cameras with the new ones using the provided software.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for the money, December 22, 2011

This review is from: PLANEX Wired/Wireless LAN Pan/Tilt-Compatible Network Camera CS-WMV02G Designed in Japan (Personal Computers)
I already had a TRENDnet wifi camera and wanted another, but cheaper, wifi camera. I also wanted to stay away from the cheaper Chinese copy-cat cameras. The PLANEX, being designed in Japan, fit the bill. I glossed over the one-page instruction manual and decided not to install any of the provided software. I set my computer to the static local network. Using Internet Explorer (a must), I was able to set up the rest of the camera (wifi, DDNS, control, etc). It is important to unplug the wired network, then reboot to use the new wifi settings (the instructions state, the wired network takes precedence over wifi). I had no problems setting up this camera; it was very similar to other wifi cameras I have. The best thing is that this camera also works very well with the "IP Cam Viewer" app on Android (written by Robert Chou).

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprising price, July 9, 2010
This review is from: PLANEX Wired/Wireless LAN Pan/Tilt-Compatible Network Camera CS-WMV02G Designed in Japan (Personal Computers)
This is a very good priced product considering its specs since any other similar product cost are over $200. Now I enjoy monitoring my pet.

5.0 out of 5 stars great secondary ip camera, December 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PLANEX Wired/Wireless LAN Pan/Tilt-Compatible Network Camera CS-WMV02G Designed in Japan (Personal Computers)
this ip camera is GREAT to add to a foscam setup. if you set the primary camera on your network as your foscam, then use the "ip camera tool"that comes with all foscam to detect additional ip cameras, then log into your foscam and "add additional cameras", this camera shows up by ip.
so when you dial into a foscam, this camera WILL show up and stream with the rest of your setup!
its a GREAT addition to an EXISTING ip camera setup.
Now, i must say that the software that comes with THIS camera is Garbage{dont use it},.....BUT., if you are adding ip cameras to an EXISTING ip camera setup, this is a PERFECT addition for an indoor camera.
THIS camera DOES NOT have night vision,..but, you can easily add a secondary I.R. light to the room you are installing this in.

i must say tho, that the "low level light " viewing on this model is actually pretty good considering, and that THIS model IP CAMERA IS perfect for installing in a dome enclosure{ no ir reflection=) } ,so for a "enclosed dome enclosure" this ip camera is AWSOME!
a good bit of "portforwarding and IT knowledge" is highly recomended,{this is NOT a "PLUG AND PLAY" camera}, for remote viewing, but for those of you that ACTUALLY know what your doing when it comes to ip cameras and networking, you will LOVE this camera=)
