5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME UPGRADE for NOTEBOOK PC's mine is a GATEWAY C-140X!!!***, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Wireless Wifi Link Mini Card (Personal Computers)
Length:: 9:57 Mins

Upgrade your Convertable Notebook C-140X or C-140XL or E295C to an N wireless card from Intell. The card part is listed as 4695AGN via www.amazon.com or another vendor if you can find one. Card works Perfectly after I installed it as you can see with this video. As a disclaimer I believe the reason why this works so well is because the motherboard on my laptop is an Intel 965PM or 965GM is the exact same thing. Many laptops with various companies makes and models use this mobo at the current moment so the card should work!!! Make sure you go to the website and update any drivers and not use the CD that comes with the packaging. Lastly, remember don't use the 3rd middle space for your antenna just use the outer 2. 1=white and 2=black. That's it. Make sure the antenna's are in there securely too you will see that can take a while. Now you have N speeds and this will work great with the D-Link 655 N Router!

You can go here, http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_filter.aspx?ProductID=2753 , and update the drivers as soon as you install the card. It will work prior to you installing these driver updates. Wireless Wifi Link Mini Card

5.0 out of 5 stars Asus G1, January 17, 2009

This review is from: Wireless Wifi Link Mini Card (Personal Computers)
This card was not only inexpensive, it truly revitalized my laptop. With the two onboard antennas in my Asus G1 I was able to connect to my draft-N router at 130 mbps. Adding a third antenna from oxfordtec & Amazon raised that to 270 mbps. This is absolutely worth the money!

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy install, works OK - but one pitfall for 2.4GHz users, January 22, 2009

This review is from: Wireless Wifi Link Mini Card (Personal Computers)
The Intel 4965AGN installed easily in my Dell Vostro laptop and was able to connect to my draft Wireless-N router. The driver (downloaded from the Intel website) also installed flawlessly.

The only issue in my use of this card is Intle's implementation of the draft Wireless-N. I was unable to connect at speeds over 100Mbps or so using this card using the 2.4GHz band, and on searching I learned that Intel intentionally forces 20MHz bandwidth and disables 40MHz bandwidth when running in the 2.4GHz band. This is important because 40MHz bandwidth is required to get the 270Mbps data rates that are possible with Wireless-N. Now if you have a Wireless-N router than operates in the 5GHz band this is not an issue, but my router is 2.4GHz only and this limitation makes this card less than optimal for me. In my case this adapter will soon be replaced with a Dell Wireless-N mini card.

Note that Intel stated that it was complying with the draft 2.0 Wireless-N spec by disabling 40MHz bandwidth in the 2.4GHz band, but my other Dell 1510 adapter as well as my Trendnet router support this feature without any issue. Intel states that this is done to minimize interference with neighboring networks - but in my case their are no interference issues (single family homes spread quite a bit apart) and IMHO Intel should not be making this desicion for all of their customers.
