Update: After four months, this item will no longer send a wifi signal. It broadcasts a signal but the signal no longer broadcasts the wifi signal it was extending. I have reset 20 times, and it works for a while, but then again drops sending the signal

Installed itself with xp. Simple.
Plugged in socket about 30 feet from router and now I can get good signal for another 30 feet and in the basement.
This worked for me.(see update, above)

I bought this repeater because it was cheap, and I was fully aware of the gamble for buying a no-brand generic product. Needless to say, after I got this repeater to connect successfully to my network, its performance was less than satisfactory. I configured it into repeater mode (meaning no need to run a cable to the main router) and I used a different extended SSID from my main SSID that way I could see/diagnose how well this thing handled connections. I connected to it wirelessly with my laptop and initially the internet connection worked, but after a few minutes the repeater would just drop connections and reset. I connected again, and this same cycle continued over and over. It is safe to say that I'm throwing this in the trash.

Runs hot cuts your data rate in half and drops the connection requiring a hard reset almost dailly. Otherwise it works great. Wasted my time and money on this one.

My problem is that the best location I've found to locate the extender doesn't allow more than 2-3 bars about 40' from the router and 20' from the TV, which isn't enough to stream movies, youtube, etc without glitches or at all. The living room TV/DVD/Wii/Roku/ipad/etc is too far away from my home office where the modem and router are to see more than 1 bar on it's own and the repeater doesn't quite get it to where it needs to be. I've tried moving the modem and router different distances so my home office PC can still connect while doing the same with the living room, but still it falls short. Since I had an extra Wireless N+ router, I bought another modem and set them up right at the living room TV and now everything connects at 100%, especially if it can use an ethernet cable. I may return the extender since I really don't need it now. I think it would work well over shorter distances and less obstacles than I have.

This was bought to extend WiFi range from a basement instaled router to an addition with foil faced insulation board which blocked signal, along with a bank of copper piping. Intent was to add a Blue Ray player at the far end of the addition. Setup instructions only provide an IP address which does not display any com[any name or any means of contact, leaving customers with no supprt at all. Several attempts to configure resulted in complete failure. Waste of money.

I wanted to expand the range of my wifi, so I ordered this product. It came in the timeframe stated by the sender. Upon arrival, I opened the product; plugged it in; and accessed the unit as indicated by the directions that came with it. Once I set it up with my smartphone, the wifi repeater was doing exactly what it said it would do for an amazing price!

Not very specific instruction sheet. Spent several hours trying with different computers to program it. Also it was supposed to include a USB cable. It was missing. That was no big deal as I have several. But the poor schmoo that dosen't have one is going to be hurting. Finally gave up and bought a Netgear and was working in about 5 minutes. I certainly wouldn't recommend this item to a friend.
