geht so...,
This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)

First German Business Magazine on the Kindle,
By
This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
Attention - bias. I work for this magazine, currently as its US correspondent. And I am proud that it is the first German business weekly magazine to be available on an electronic book reading device. The slogan of this leading German business weekly magazine is "Nothing is more exciting than the economy". And indeed it is as we all know. Wirtschaftswoche is trying to prove it every week with exciting and well written stories. I know how hard my colleagues work to fulfill this promise. The magazine is in GERMAN. It is similar to Business Week and Fortune. Its the best way for Kindle owners who happen to be Germans living abroad with an interest in economics, politics and technology to keep current. And a great way for non German speakers to test their German language skills. The great thing about the Kindle is that you try out all the material for free. So test WirtschaftsWoche and judge for yourself.

German Magazines!,

This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
One of the great draws to a Kindle is the potential ability to subscribe to foreign publications at a reasonable cost. I hope Wirtschaftswoche is only the beginning for German speakers like myself. GEO, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, and other great German publications are hopefully not far behind!

bad formatting, no figures and tables,
This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
I am commuting with public transportation about 2 hours every day. So the Kindle is in principal perfect for my purpose, saving a lot of weight. Unfortunately the Kindle version of the Wirschaftswoche is a flop - and I do not understand why. The text format is awful, there is no italic, no bold, no underscores, no nothing. In addition, you still/again find the false hyphens in the text, like in the ancient times of the internet. There are absolutely no tables and figures which decreases the information of the whole magazine considerably. Acutally the only good thing is (and the reason why I have not yet unsubcribed) that the WiWo-content itself is really good so you still get interesting information out of it. But when compared to stuff like the iPad the Kindle-layout of the WiWo is pathetic. I really hope that the WiWo-guys read the reviews an solve this problem. Otherwise it could make more sense to subscribe for the print version (again) which also includes a pdf edition. But then the Kindle is nothing more than a pdf reader ...

top german business magazine for reasonable costs,
By
This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
i read wirtschaftswoche on my kindle in germany. compared to the printed subscription the kindle edition is cheaper and delivered wirelessly on saturday. however, the layout is not comparable to the printed edition, and the kindle edition does not contain any pictures (pics are not so important for me, but sometimes tables and diagrams would be very helpful for understanding some articles). all in all, the kindle edition has more advantages for me

Yes, it is great to receive the WiWo on my Kindle! But why the delay in delivery (supposed to transmit on Saturday, but often I wait until Monday). Moreover, it is impossible to read the tables and see the figures.

pricing,

This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
10.99 USD is the monthly subscription, comprised of 4 issues, meaning 2.75 USD per issue. That's roughly 1.90 EUR. Compared to the 3.80 EUR for the yearly subscription in germany, it's considerably cheaper.

Not bad, but does need more work.,
This review is from: WirtschaftsWoche (Kindle Edition)
The price is nice and the idea is great. I don't know if it is still the case, that content from the print version is missing. I did not have one at hand to compare. The important graphics are now included, even though pictures are not. All in all enough reasons to subscribe to it.The formatting however is horrible. The print version seems to have more than one heading of articles in different font sizes and colors (it's been a while since I read the print version of the WirtschaftsWoche). This formatting is missing, which makes for an odd reading of the headline, but can be quite strange if it happens at the beginning of paragraph in between normal text. So you read something like "Entsetzen in der Branche Ob Antioxidantien Krebs vorbeugen?" (taken from the issue from 2010-10-18). Well, "Entsetzen in der Branche" is the part that seems to be emphasized in some way in the print edition, and "Ob Antioxidantien Krebs vorbeugen?" is the beginning of the new paragraph. In this particular case, it even alters the sense of the sentence! It can't be that hard to include that formatting in the Kindle edition as well. Also in the last two editions was a bug, that sometimes the last letter "n" of a word was missing and instead the next new word began, for example rather than "meinen Apfel" it said "meineApfel". No idea why...

The regular paper issue in Germany costs 3,90 EUR. Ordering via Kindle/Amazon costs 10,99 USD, which is the equivalent of EUR 7,60.My question is: What went wrong?. Amazon`s claim is, when using Kindle, you save money. How? Jan Vajnorsky Germany |
