Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-7-These colorful and attractive updates contain comprehensive facts on each state. Each title covers the history, geography and environment, government and its structure, economy, people, and tourist attractions of the area. "Fast Facts" sections give key statistical information, listings of natural areas, college and professional sport teams, cultural institutions, annual events, and famous individuals. There are some minor errors in North Carolina. Wake Forest University is listed as Lake Forest; one outdated picture shows North Carolina National Bank, which became Nation's Bank several years ago. Sidebars, maps, full-color photographs on most pages, and attractive layouts make these appealing additions where state information is needed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Badger State, May 28, 2009
This review is from: Wisconsin (America the Beautiful, Second) (Library Binding)
This book covers the history of Wisconsin, the 30th U.S. state from the time it was a glacier to entering the modern era with the Green Bay Packers 3 Super Bowls and an NBA championship led by Kareem Abdul Jabbar. The Milwaukee Brewers went to a World Series in 81 or 82 and never went back. Held the once coveted position of nation's top milk producer but still leads in production of cheese. Covers segregated schools and desegregation, the freeing of slaves and WW1 and WW2. Overall, a good look at the badger state.
