More About the Author

For over two decades Chad Lewis has traveled the back roads of the world in search of the strange and unusual. From tracking vampires in Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize and searching for ghosts in Ireland's haunted castles, Chad has scoured the earth in search of the paranormal.

Chad has been featured on the Discovery Channel's A Haunting, William Shatner's Weird or What, ABC's Scariest Places on Earth, and Monsters and Mysteries in America along with being a frequent contributor on Ripley's Believe it or Not Radio. With a Masters Degree in Psychology, Chad has authored over 17 books on the supernatural, and extensively lectures on his fascinating findings. The more bizarre the legend, the more likely it is that you will find Chad there.

I picked this book up while on a road trip. The entries are short, concise, and tell you what's been seen, a short blurb on the history of the place, and what if anything the authors found upon "investigation" of the site. Each site includes a photo and driving directions so the reader can find the site and check it out. It's not too in-depth, which is nice because it doesn't get boring. The authors have found some unique places which will provide spooky vigils for those so inclined.

After I bought this book, I enjoyed paging through it so much that I went out and bought their other titles for other states. My only critique of this book is the sloppy editing, there are numerous typos. Whoever edited this should be fired. The sloppy editing does take away a little from the credibility of the book, but it's a light-hearted treatment so I guess it's not to be taken too seriously. Overall the book is a good primer for one aspect of local folklore.

This book is probably one of the better volumes of Wisconsin haunted locations, the authors looked for locations that any beginner paranormal investigator could reach without getting into too much trouble and got the legends, the real history and performed their own brief investigation. Ok, so usually they didn't have much to show for their nights out, but there was some interesting debunking just the same. If you're interested in paranormal investigation, are a thrill-seeking ghost hunter or are just a junkie for local folklore in lovely Wisconsin, this is a title you need on your shelf (next to other books, of course... this is hardly a complete compendium.)

I've heard Chad on C2C many times and it was always so interesting, I finally bought a couple of his books and could not believe the disappointment. Seemed like almost every place he visits, he gives this history, and then.... nothing happens. Boring.

This book was very helpful, as i went ghost hunting and most of the places that i went to where in the book, i was a little disappointed that some of the places that i read about on the internet where not listed. But all in all, i was pleased.

Confirms that creepy feeling you got in that spot. Other adventures abound and if you are stuck in Wisconsin, why not explore "the dark side" more? There must be a reason serial killers are bred here...

Great book though I wish it had covered more areas, and only those proven to be historically accurate.
