5.0 out of 5 stars Buy This NOW!
This has a lot of information about unsolved mysteries in Wisconsin. It is the first time a book of this type has been published to my knowledge. It has everything from ghost stories, alien abductions, to weird rock formations and more!
But who is "Mary Balousek"..Not any relative of mine, unless my dad committed bigamy secretly!

101 Wisconsin Unsolved Mysteries includes short profiles of puzzling events that have taken place in Wisconsin. Most of the events are unsolved murders, but a few of the mysteries are seemingly paranormal occurrences or other unexplained phenomena.

This book shares a lot of content with a later Balousek book called "50 Wisconsin Crimes of the Century." The later book,...

This review is from: 101 Wisconsin Unsolved Mysteries (Paperback)
101 Wisconsin Unsolved Mysteries includes short profiles of puzzling events that have taken place in Wisconsin. Most of the events are unsolved murders, but a few of the mysteries are seemingly paranormal occurrences or other unexplained phenomena.

This book shares a lot of content with a later Balousek book called "50 Wisconsin Crimes of the Century." The later book, although it focuses exclusively on criminal acts, has more information on the individual cases, and includes more of the gossipy details that make reading it a guilty pleasure. "101," on the other hand, suffers from amateurish editing and looks like it was printed in somebody's basement. Also, Balousek was obviously running short on mysteries because some of the profiles are extremely similar. For example, he counts each victim of what was likely a single serial killer in Milwaukee as an individual unsolved mystery. C'mon Marv, that's cheating.

If you're going for a fun, light read that makes you lock your doors at night, I'd recommend buying "50 Wisconsin Crimes of the Century" instead.
