One of the best I've read this year..., December 28, 2002
This review is from: The Wisdom of the Elements: The Sacred Wheel of Earth, Air, Fire and Water (Paperback)
This book is one of "those" for me: it brought together so many pieces. Upon finishing it, I had a holistic picture of the four elements as applied in many areas of metaphysics, including astrology and tarot, and in medicine and sacred wheels used in many spiritual traditions. Margie covers so much, from the five platonic solids of sacred geometry to chinese medicine and the tao, to archangels. She even has recipes! Her discussion of the four elements is the most in-depth and informative I've ever come across. I've been studying metaphysics for over 17 years, and this book was the one that gave me what I was missing re: fire, earth, air and water. She also discusses elementals, which I've been curious about. Her style is companionable. Her meditations are doable - and I really have trouble in that department. Do yourself a favor: get this one!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!, February 26, 1999

This review is from: The Wisdom of the Elements: The Sacred Wheel of Earth, Air, Fire and Water (Paperback)
I found this amazing little book quite by accident, and what a fortuitous accident! This book cuts right to the heart of things - a human's relationship with the basic elements of life - in a way that is practical, relevant, heart warming, and mentally satisfying. Though this is not a book that purports to be about shamanism, the world view this book puts forth is indeed that of the shaman, who acknowledges his/her relationship to "all that is." Or perhaps it would be more accurate to state that this book manages to reach beyond titles and labels such as shamanism, neopaganism, witchcraft, buddhism, or any of them, to the deep secrets of acknowledging one's intimate relationship to the very forces that shape body, mind and spirit.

Best book about the Elements., July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Wisdom of the Elements: The Sacred Wheel of Earth, Air, Fire and Water (Paperback)
An eclectic and personal study of the Elements this book is the best on the subject since Scott Cunningham's EARTH POWER. Actually more complete, more full of exercises and of much greater depth that Mr. Cunningham's book, it is the next step in our understanding of the elements. Material derived from many cultures, all of which Ms. McArthur has personal knowledge of, enlightened the reader about the universiality of elemental expressions. The exercises very accurately actualized the essence of each element. This is a good reference book for creating ritual and interacting with the powers of Nature. I've already given out 4 copies to friends.
