2.0 out of 5 stars Been there done that
If you're familiar with several people in the self-help field, you'll find very little new material here.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Read Packed with Spiritual Insight, November 28, 2001

This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
As a writer of spiritual-based material myself, I am familiar with the difficulty of presenting this kind of information in a way that is insightful, truthful, clear, easy to understand, and practical to the experience of the reader. Jacob Liberman has accomplished this in his book, Wisdom from an Empty Mind. Like a treasure chest filled with precious currency, gold and gems, his book is filled with concise stories that convey the richness of the spiritual principles he is sharing. For myself, I learned the value of living in the present because I discovered it was a `gifted' moment in my life. Put another way, when a person directs his or her conscious attention into the future, or ties it to past events, happiness is lost. In other words, it is impossible to experience emotional unhappiness when the mind and heart are focused in the now for that is, indeed, the only instant a person has any control over anyway. Jacob Lieberman, and his son, Erik, show how the reader can become spiritually centered and carry this awareness with him or herself through daily life. This is a task that is not easy in a world that appears ever more distracting and complex. Therefore, it is of immense value because it teaches the reader, in a highly engaging and entertaining manner, how to be in touch with the divinity within each one of us. In addition, the book can be read cover-to-cover or may simply be opened at random. I particularly like this second approach. However, regardless of the page, the beauty of the words and ideas is alive with meaning. I have already purchased several copies for family and friends and recommend this book most highly to anyone who reads it. It has already made perfect birthday and holiday gifts. (I only wish I had written it myself!) But, in any case, I feel I am a better person for reading it. I know that it will be equally beneficial to you and your loved ones this holiday season--and all the year through--because it is a gift that keeps on giving.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wisdom From An Empty Mind, September 25, 2001
By
This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
In a world that has become increasingly technical, Jacob Liberman has written
a book that brings home the fact that in order to live a happy and spiritual
life, the answers are very simple. Dr. Liberman explains that living does
not have to be a struggle. He shows how to listen to your heart -- the place
where all your true answers are -- and to realize that we already are what we
strive to be... we simply have to remember who we really are.

This book is not weighed down by excess. The writing is to the point and
feels conversational, like sitting in front of the fire with an old friend.
I refer to this book often, and will continue to do so. It has become one of
my favorite gifts to give.

If you're looking for inspiration that doesn't make you feel that your
spiritual goal is "way out there" -- that in fact, you are already there --
Wisdom From An Empty Mind is the book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Slow down, you missed your life", December 16, 2001
This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
Wisdom from an Empty Mind touches all aspects of humanity in ways where the rest of the world falls short. Jacob and Erik are able to put into words an amazing compilation of short, but not too short, literary journeys into the human spirit, mind and body. By using this book as a vessel of explanation, the reader begins to realize that nothing needs explaining. Jacob and Erik hold the Earth in their fingertips, and every being should thank them for the opportunity they create as we try to find ourselves and our neighbors in a life that has just begun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Doses Of Truth, October 3, 2001
By
This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
A person I have a great deal of respect for once said to me,
"The Truth can be told in two minutes or less". I've enjoyed this guideline for the last 20 years of my life as a way to cut to the chase and get to the point of any issue quickly and effectively. Jacob's book is a series of bottom line truths, each told in two minutes or less. The truths are spoon fed in easy doses with warmth and charm as the condiments. This is the kind of book you can leave by your bedside and pick up as the spirit moves you to open any random page and have it benefit your day or your dreams. That's what I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars mind blown OPEN!, September 29, 2001
By
This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
i've only read half of this book (and i bought it only hours ago) and it's already amazed me to a degree where it goes beyond words.i'm very difficult to impress when we're talking about books, and specifically metaphysical and/or spiritual books,as i've been reading them for years.some of this stuff i know already...but i can hardly believe there are actually some new ideas in here for me...i think i'm going to be buying more copies of this book for people i find to be receptive to this sort of thing.to get an idea of what kind of company this book will be keeping...some other favorites of of mine are thaddeus golas -the lazy man's guide to enlightenment-,the conversations with god series by neale donald walsch, and anthony de mello's -awareness-.astounding.

I finished reading this book in just under a couple of hours, but it is full of wonderful and helpful words to live by. It is written in clear simplicity with profound messages. It's a book to pick up over and over again to remind us to live with love and clarity. Both Jacob Liberman, and his son, Erik are two human beings with an abundance of wisdom and joy that have graced me with their friendship and have helped me grow along the way.

This is a beautiful book. The message is clear, the words are straightforward, and the writing simply beautiful. It is refreshing to find a book of this genre that talks "with" you, not "to" you. I love it. I think everyone should own a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book That Will Touch Your Heart., September 21, 2001

This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
Upon receiving the book "Wisdom From An Empty Mind" my expectations were minimal.
Some books are page turners, but this book I would consider a "mind turner".
When I'm overwhelmed I read and find calm, when I'm feeling down Dr. Liberman's words bring me happiness, when the world seems too chaotic I find harmony within these pages.
I absolutely love "Wisdom From An Empty Mind" it continues to touch my heart.
The best occasion to buy this book is NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concise, Authentic and Memorable, August 16, 2001
By
This review is from: Wisdom From An Empty Mind (Paperback)
"Wisdom from..." is a concise and memorable series of anecdotes that have stayed with me long after I read them. They remind me of John Cage's autobiographical stories spread through his book "Silence".

"Wisdom from..." is not a prescription for how to live you life. Rather, it is straightforward, authentic and deceivingly simple sharing of the author's life.

The natural resonance of this sharing is so on target and genuine it's made me smile deeply and I've quite naturally just started telling friends the stories as soon as I've read them.

From the very first story in the book I've been inspired to take on jumping into the moment in my own life without the tremendous preparation I sometimes uselessly fill my time with. I often know what I'm doing far better than I realize and as I've begun to trust in that it can be easy sailing.
